It blows me away how little respect Les continues to get from the National media although he has close to a 80% win percentage, 2 SEC's and 1 National in 7 years at LSU.
He also cost us the NC this past season with his piss-poor quarterback management.

I am a Les fan but he did not help his reputation with the coaching( or lack of coaching) job he did in the BCS game
true. BUT, ALL coaches have games like this where the game plan doesn't work and the players, for whatever reason, don't play well. fundamentally, Miles is still a damn good football coach; one of the best in the country. so far, his reaction to the BCS beatdown seems to be a good one as the staff is recruiting their arse off. the fact as i see it is that Miles is judged a lot harsher than other coaches for his mistakes. why? it has to start with many of our fans; the ones that expect and demand perfection and are extremely vocal about it. add Miles seemingly flippant "persona" and his media gaffs and his reputation, with some that have media access, is very vulnerable. i use saban as an example (who doesn't); it is universially acclaimed and noted that saban is by far the best coach in america. i don't feel that way. the last 3 years he has been. his entire body of work is not that stellar, at least not enough to warrant his godlike rep. miles is certainly his equal imo.

The312 has it right.
Milea needs to win it this year. Thatll offset the NC debacle.

Les leaves everybody puzzled with some of his coaching decisions. And I'd take the UAB loss and you ULM loss for 2NCs in 3 years.
Les would be in a better postion if he would have put anybody in at QB and lost 28-0 on a pick 6 then what he did or if he came out and said you know playing our QB the whole game probably wasn't my best plan and looking back at it I probably have played somebody else.
But he acts as if it didnt happen. He doesn't even mention a game that if he had won the 2012 team would have been in the talk for the greatest ever.

Did everybody just glance over this obvious bullshite:

While there may be better coaches than Miles in the SEC -- if Bobby Petrino were still at Arkansas, there were at least two better in the West alone -

You're only as good as your last game in any given sport...... Les SUCKED in his last game! However, I like his consistent stay at the top in college football. Hopefully he will learn from his past failures and become the BEST COLLEGE FOOTBALL COACH IN AMERICA. Right now it's Saban and NO one can dispute that. Every year is different and IF the Tigers can beat 'Bama and actually win another national title in 2012 season then Les will be considered as good/better than anyone in college football IMHO. He's definitely one of the very best recruiters of all time for LSU! Geaux Tigers!

And just because you inherit a great situation doesn't mean that you'll keep it going. Let's give the man credit for that.
Miles took over a team that was one yr moved from a NC and had a current ranking @ #16 and was 3rd or 4th in the SEC.
7 yrs later, 7 I repeat, that team went undefeated in the SEC, scored 500 pts, and finished at #2 in the nation while playing in their 2 BCSCG in 5 yrs.
In those 7 yrs, LSU leads all BCS schools in wins,
leads the SEC in wins, leads the West in titles, has as many SEC titles as any SEC school, leads the SEC in 10 win seasons, leads the SEC in Top 8 finishes, and won a NC.
Results, not conjecture or personal opinion, show that Miles took what Nick started and improved on it to the point where LSU is now considered one the elite of the elite football programs on a regular basis for the 1st time in LSU history.
And he has done that while not coming across as some kinda arrogant jerk and not running to another coaching position.
How any LSU fan can not like LM is beyond me, but each to our own.

I would honestly disagree.

Unreal. Miles dominated that clown Petrino. Miles with no QB and Petrino with a media darling. fricking mercy knee.

Miles is a good recruiter not great. He is no where close to Saban in terms of x 's and o's. Miles isn't going in to bama and pulling out for and 5 stars left and right. Ok Kwon Alexander, who was out all last season. Saban is killing miles in recruiting and is just a flat out
Far superior coach. I dont see Les Miles assistants taking high profile head jobs. Sabans assistants are always the first choice for prime time head jobs! Look I hate Saban and Alabama but he is a far superior coach to miles in every way, he'll even his wife is way hotter than miles s wife.

Nobody will ever really know what happened to LSU leading up to that game. I personally believe LSU was DOA before they even got to the stadium and it was due to internal conflict on the team.
This. And the worst part is that we may never know what really went down. I think this is why so many LSU fans have had a tough time letting go of 1/9/12.
There were rumors of arguments at halftime between Miles and his assistants, tales of players taking sides with either JJ or Lee, etc. It definitely seemed like something caused us to implode ourselves, and Saban took full advantage with a smart game plan that we apparently never saw coming.
Miles still has egg on his face from that night in NOLA. Time will tell if he learned anything from the experience.

Braden Gall is an idiot. He clearly will never give LSU or Les Miles credit and he is always talking about Bama. I don't like the arrogance of this guy. Bill King said that Braden was fired from his show be cause of his bad attitude. He never brings any facts to the table and sounds like a 12 yr when he talks about football.

umm, this yr's team?
Last year's regular schedule was unreal, almost no one thought we'd go undefeated. And if we'd beat Bama again (even though they didn't deserve to be there), it would've been one of the best overall seasons ever.
Even if we run the table this year (which will surely ease some of the pain of last year), I don't think it'll be as impressive as what could've been last year.

Les lost respect by the way he handled seccg and ncg.
Not just from his own teams fans.

but can you really disagree with anyone who says that Saban is clearly the best coach in the SEC?
SEC? How about the country? No shame in that. Les is a top 5 coach at this point. We're luck to have him. Great coach, great leader, great family man.

speak for yourself. I was very disappointed with the way the game was handled, but I still have the same healthy respect for Les.

I don't feel like Saban is on another level.
That said, Miles has done a GREAT job at LSU (although this wasn't always certain) and the media isn't there to be objective in this day and time. They are there to regurgitate someone else's opinion from 2 years ago.
