Sounds like it. I guess we will know if they made final decision one way or another soon

How does this relate to opting out? Will they be immune once they take pads off or something? Do they plan on never leaving the house until this thing passes? The spin on this BS is absurd. I think it is hilarious, for all these players and media people, talking about player safety for a sport where elite athletes run full speed and crash into one another. Especially for a virus that isn't that harmful, especially for young people. Crazy

Is Thomas going to be a bust? It’s looking that way, kinda crazy with all the hype he had coming out of high school.

I am honestly surprised that Chase is playing now that they have the option to sit the year out. He literally has nothing to prove for the scouts on the field.

Neither do Taylor Lawrence or Justin Fields. Barring a Burrow-like unexpected rise from someone, those two are almost locks for being top 5 picks (if not higher) whether they play another snap of college football or not. But they are leading the charge to play. Perhaps, and I know this might come as a shock to some, they just really, really like playing football and don't want to miss over a year of doing something they love to do. Chase seems to be one of those guys as well.

I have immense respect for someone who has very little, if anything to "gain" by taking a stand against the public mob, but doing so anyway.

Some are probably genuinely concerned. Neil Farrell was going to be a starter (or at least a guy who would play significant snaps) with an opportunity to improve his chances of becoming a pro football player. But I bet some, if they are backups, are doing it because they are angry about not being starters and don't want to "waste a year" putting in work only to not play as much as they think they should play. Otherwise, why put in all of the offseason work only to quit right before the season (or at least camp) started? It might even be a leverage ploy against coaches essentially saying "guarantee me significant playing time, or I'm skipping the season"

Worried about their futures...how exactly does sitting out a season help their futures?

To each his own in this regard, but I mean...its the flu. Covid-19 isn't likely to cause any of these kids to have any serious long term issues.

This is exactly my thought from my post on page 1

After reading the cardiologist commentary.. there is almost zero risk. Anyway.. now that there is a schedule. I think fewer opt outs. Vincent will get drafted. But he probably hurt himself a round or two.

playing a 10 game schedule to impress scouts is much better for their future than playing 12 games

And it is perfectly fine if they choose to opt out just like it is perfectly fine for them to decide to play. Have the freedom of choice is always a good thing.

This!! This should be how our society works for business and schools. If you want to open your business then open, if you want to stay home then stay home. We shouldn't criticize what others are choosing, it's America and unless you walk in someone else's shoes then you really don't know their motivations.

Don't hate on the players who either play or sit out, let them make their own choice.

Of course, some guys who have high draft grades are considering opting out. I would be shocked if those guys didn't consider it. You know agents have offered them $$$ to support them while they train for the draft etc.

All I know, is if you disagree with Jimmy about anything at any time, he will call you a racist, melt down, and light his hair on fire. The guy can’t tolerate anybody disagreeing with him. So whatever he says, just smile and nod your head.

Neither of these players have opted out yet so lets save the blind speculation for guys like Jimmy. Not saying we won't have additional players opt out but Jimmy has as much inside info as posters on here.

I’m in this camp as well. I think on the back half of camp we may see a few upperclassmen “opt out” due to some of these young guys coming in hungry. And that also tells me not to worry about it because anyone that opts our from this point going forward was likely not to see many snaps anyhow, unless something drastically changes with Covid in the next few weeks which I don’t foresee. But then again I’m not a medical insider...

I've written it here before and will continue to say...Football itself is inherently more dangerous, both short-term and long-term than Covid. Before people say "you don't know what the long-term effect of Covid is" the same argument can be said for CTE. If we are gonna tell kids to quit playing football for Covid, we need to just go "snowflake" all the way and shut it down permanently.
