Tell me you didn’t play baseball without telling me you didn’t play baseball.

How dumb are you? Arrambide was widely regarded as one of if not the top high school catchers in the country and was a major draft risk. He's struggling right now defensively, but these are the best pitchers he's ever caught in his life. That's a big adjustment from high school. You also have no idea what was promised to any player on this team when they were recruited. You thinking Jay purposely plays inferior players because "promises were made" is hilarious.

Yes. He has always kind of struggled defensively. My son who is a catcher also has told me this. My son is at a JUCO. But with catching you so have some bad days. Kid can rake though.

He had a bad night, and the pitchers did help him out. He will get better.

The freshman?

Wasn’t he ranked as the #1 catcher in HS? Most people in his position are playing low A ball, at this point. He should be better than his performance.

I’d like to see priester just once. He did more than enough in the scrimmages I saw.

You got DV'ed for this, but you're right. Posters forget these kids at this level have played on Summer teams with other elite pitchers for the last 4 years. It was probably boring for him to catch his HS pitchers compared to Summer ball.

His glove work and positioning needs some attention for sure.

At this point he appears to be as bad or worse than Neal was!

Theses are the type of threads that mods should delete. He’s a freshman playing in a Tuesday game.

And showing all of us he’s not ready to even see that. The freshman excuse is a smokescreen. He was horrible in all facets of his defense tonight; so much so that the guy that was supposed to get a night off had to come play most of the game for him. The whole game literally shifted on that substitution - that’s the impact negatively he was having.

What does that even mean lmao

It’s not his fault the position depth is poor and he is forced to play. You all have to learn the definition of excuse

Got it.

You obviously didn't make it out to any fall or spring scrimmages. The JUCO all american you speak of had multiple scrimmages that was similar to the freshman catchers game last night. Catcher position was a big ? coming into the season. For anyone who follows LSU baseball the struggles behind the plate shouldn't be a surprise. Just have to hope that with more in game reps they continue to improve and develop.

Catcher I’ve seen in a long time. He needs more work for sure I get it but He’s not blocked at least 4 balls tonite and 2 of them has scored ! He has got to do a better job of moving/sliding out and just blocking the ball than this back hand work he has done this year so for. Gonna need this kids bat

I got a headache reading this. How about while Cade works at being a better defensive catcher, you work at formulating at least third grade level sentences.

He had a rough night, but we are letting our pitchers off the hook too.

they were all over the place. Spiking fastballs in front of the plate, high low, wildly outside, hitting guys.

Arrambide was having a rough night without the first 3 pitchers deciding to test him every pitch.

He had a bad night. But he's definitely not the worst. Heck, Milazo had some bad nights, but he also had some incredible nights. That play between Tre Morgan and Him vs WF in Omaha is legendary.

Arambide is a freshman. He'll get it worked out.

Stop with all the hysterical nonsense. The kid will get better. He's got the skills, he just needs some time.

I think people are really underestimating how difficult of a position catcher is. Especially at the collegiate level. Our midweek guys have MLB speed and spin with HS control.

Now I played catcher so I’m a bit bias, but a lot of people are failing to understand how difficult it is to block up a spiked 95 mph fastball, or a spiked curve with crazy spin rate.

Yes pitchers will bury breaking balls in the dirt, those are controlled into the dirt and the catcher knows it’s coming.

It’s more difficult to catch in college than it’s ever been. Cade will get better. Last night was a rough night.
