It should be reseeded. But not because we were scared to play Arkansas. I want the final two teams to be the best teams left and Arkansas was definitely the 2nd best team in Omaha. They just ran into the LSU buzz saw.

Second basemen interviewed before the game.

“I don’t think they wanna face us”

The shows hosts reactions after that are priceless considering what the outcome was. They were talking about momentum after 2 wins against shite teams and completely disregarding how LSU owned them all season long.

Their attitude of superiority was the weirdest thing. Lose 3 of 4 at that point to a team and you still maintain this attitude of someone being scared of you lol

I feel badly for the left fielder but man they make it really hard to be a good sport.

Maybe that lack of humility and respect is part of a program culture that holds them back in some cases.

NO ONE would have felt that way if it were (2) Texas v.(7) Georgia in the top half of the bracket instead of Murray St. vs. UCLA

"Scared"? No. But it was because Arkansas was a good team and relatively to the other 6 teams in the CWS likely the one most difficult to defeat. If LSU would have been matched up with say Kansas or Cincinnati no one would have been shouting the CWS should be reseeded.

Knowing how unlikely it is to win the CWS if you lose the first game, coupled with the fact LSU was matched up against the best potential opponent in that game brought out all of the shouts of things being "unfair". To say otherwise is just dishonest.

That said, Arkansas fans weren't exactly thrilled to be matched up with LSU either. But you never got any absurd sense of overconfidence from Arkansas. Not everything is a sign of "disrespect". Viewing everything through that prism is how you get ejected 10 pitches into the bottom of the first...after a successful stolen base, no less.

They were insinuating that if Arkansas wins that game they were in the drivers seat for the natty. Anderson and Eyanson would’ve had something to say about that, plus even if they beat LSU the next day using up more pitchers they would’ve been facing a well rested Coastal staff. No matter who would’ve won on Thursday, Coastal would’ve been the favorite in the finals.

I don’t think their SS and LF want to face them also.

Coastal did not have enough to beat Ark or LSU in 3 games with a depleated staff for LSU or Ark. Their hitting was just not that scary.

They would have not won the deciding game.... so all this is moot for Ar-Kansas.

Thanks for the find!

My interpretation of the 2B's comment about LSU not wanting to play them is it is projection. THEY were ultimately afraid of LSU which is why they fell apart.

Anderson would have been unavailable, and Eyanson may have been used some to beat Arkansas limiting him. We beat Coastal by a total of 3 runs in 2 games with our 2 best pitchers well rested. Those purple and gold glasses must be heavily tinted.

Coastal’s staff was perfectly set up for the finals. LSU only scored 6 runs total in 2 games, so I would say they had enough to beat Ark.

Anderson would have gone in a game 3, it would have been short rest but could give you innings if needed. Again, this thought that Coastal was some juggernaut is laughable. They folded like a cheap suit when the pressure was on.

We scored 1 run in game 1. Thankfully we had the best pitcher in the country well rested. Play Thursday and game 1 likely has a different result. Maybe Anderson is unavailable for a 3rd game if he has to throw 130 against Arkansas.

The sad thing about that is the Jones hit was just out of reach for the 2nd baseman , and everyone who heard that would have thought it hit him right between the eyes. SS, LF, and 1st baseman f 'ed Arkansas
