I don’t have sources on anything LSU but I usually scan interpret a situation pretty well. In terms of Gilbert though, I have no clue.
I do think that all roads lead to JUCO from what I’ve read. But he’s obviously avoiding that like the plague and going back to the original program (who was trying to help in the first place) is his last ditch effort.

Sources say he is in Baton Rouge to continue the investigation into Will Wade.

I’m almost certain it won’t affect numbers bc he’s be coming back within a certain time window I’d imagine. Not sure how the “commitment” to UF affects that and how far that process went, that could affect numbers.

My understanding is Arik finished the fall semester with a 1.0. That's not good. Maybe sitting out the spring semester and taking summer courses may allow him to be eligible this fall.
If he can come back and if he decides to come back and if I were O, I would require that Arik do a major mea culpa with the rest of the team before he comes back. As great as a talent Arik is I would not have him come back and disrupt team chemistry at this point unless he can humble up and give O confidence that he won't hurt the team.

I heard he asked to be jumped back on the team.....Said he take 12 mens best lick and will pick up his grades.

As long as he didn't sign any papers I don't think it means anything. Also, it seems he would need to find at least 12 credits this Summer to play in the Fall. I'm assuming his grades from last Fall are fine as he didn't leave the team and move home until after Finals.
