Older fans in particular just don't get this. You can go by the mantra, "By any means necessary", and still lose.

But in 2026, if you are unwilling to follow this, you WILL lose. Period.

I would deliver your Mom to the Iranians if it meant we win a Natty.

Not really.

If I had told you in 2005 that college basketball was already on its way to mid-tier/forgettable status among sports fans, you would have thought I was crazy. But the one-and-done ruling, conference realignment, and excessive shoe/apparel company cash flowing into select programs was sinking the sport in real time right before our eyes. I bet most (non-gambling) sports fans couldn’t name the reigning CBB national champion if their life depended on it.

We are heading there. These CFB programs at public universities are well on their way to being the personal play toys of a few billionaires or wards of the state legislatures. Neither is good.

I’ll watch and go to at least one game. But I’m going through the motions.

?? every championship for the last 50 years was bought by paying players. If we could get away with it, I’d be gone with bringing Burrow in to play.

Sports isn’t about fair. There’s no such thing as “fair” in sports.
