I think better development has to be shown on the first and second level of the defense next season to get the higher level recruits. Did any of our D Linemen or linebackers look like they took a massive step forward throughout the year? That’s what gets used against you in recruiting. Offense did markedly improve through the year. Look at what they did with Mason Taylor and the o line.

I’m not sure what you are talking about. Penn and Weeks are depth guys who were forced to play major roles at times because we didn’t have anyone else. Jones is an OLB who tried to move inside but couldn’t. Baskerville was our only experienced SEC-quality LB and he did a good job learning a new system and played well this season. The staff thinks highly of Tolan, but he didn’t show up ready to play day one and isn’t the physical freak that Perkins is who can make up for what he doesn’t know with pure ability. If you want a barometer of what this staff is capable of, watch him in the Bowl Game and over the spring.

If anything, the fact that Perkins, a guy who didn’t arrive until fall camp, was doing things like dropping into coverage by the end of the season should tell you that there IS development going in across the front 7. Add to that Savion Jones and Roy both taking steps forward this season and Wingo progressing as you would expect a guy who was freshman All-SEC, and what are you complaining about? That the staff can’t magically add talent to guys who don’t have it at an SEC level? Our top players absolutely DID make progress. We just need more guys as good or better than them.

I do think he needs his defenses to start faster.
Whole team needs to start faster. Other than the Florida and bama games, the whole team look hungover in the first half of games. More offensively than defensively. Imo

And we still won the SEC west. There is no way anyone can tell me that there is another DC out there who could have came in here under the same circumstances and did a better job. Completely overhauled defense including personnel. There was absolutely nothing wrong with their scheme. The problem was the ability to effectively implement his scheme relative to his personnel.

LSU needs at least 2-3 more DL, 2 LB, 1-2 CB and 2 S. If we can somehow get some quality depth on the front seven and in the secondary then House will have us in the top 3 SEC defenses.

Everyone has to remember that this was everyone’s first season. Now everyone knows what to expect and House now has a better idea of who can do what on his defense and how these other teams will try to exploit them. Anyone that saw the defense could see that it was much more of a player issue then it was scheme. House will improve on last years numbers and have us at the top soon.

All I’m saying is the defense needs to take a step forward next year or it will be four years in a row we won’t have done a great job at developing our defensive recruits. And you’re going against staffs with better track records for the same guys.

His halftime adjustments have been stellar so far. Just needs the players and depth

I go further...his adjustments after opponent's first 2-3 drives have been terrific. We have consistently said all year we SUCK the first few drives and traditionally we turn this around in the second quarter...not having to wait until halftime.

No. We should fire him.

Why are you worried about this right now?

I think people take for granted just how bad the team was when the staff inherited the program. What House and Kelly managed to do this year was spectacular. Were there ups and downs yes but the future is bright. The team will be more experienced and talented next year than it was this year.

Once again, if a screen name has some form of king in it, I know the post is going to be 100% wrong.

true, but on offense and defense, this team hasnt been ready to play in the first half all year, thats a huge issue, one that BK needs to get fixed or he needs to replace people on his staff

you simply cannot give away the entire first half to other teams when you play in the SEC

Based on the players he had coming into camp along with the lack of talent at LB I give him an A grade for the year.

I think he done pretty well with what he had to work with.

I think by year 3, if recruiting continues on trajectory, they’ll be pretty damn solid.

I’m 50/50 on him being able to be dominant or what would be dominant in todays game. He showed flashes but allowing jimbo to destroy him like he did is bad

I don’t think House’s defensive scheme had anything to do with that. My belief is that that was tired worn down players from our lack of quality depth. Especially on the DL.
