doubt it big time. This is because their website also claims a 2003 football national championship.

2024 in vegas cant get here soon enough

wonder how many times they won a tough regional and theyll claim that its enough to crown themselves

Almost all of them are pre 1980.

Short answer is a resounding NO.

I believe the argument of greatest baseball program is between Texas and LSU.

Did they win them on the field and not claim them? If so, then yes.

One could argue it was easier to go on that kind of run in that era of college baseball due to limited popularity. However, it does not change the fact they had to actually earn it on the field.

Do you think the CWS began in 1991?

They are. But It’s kinda like ND in football. Yeah they have 11 nattys but they haven’t actually done shite in almost half a century. So you can’t really call the program relevant anymore.

Texas and LSU are the top programs and have been for some time now.

Don't think they ever played a 3 game series for the win.

Pretty sure all theirs were a 1 game winner take all.

Not knocking it completely as several of ours were the Same but it is definitely a different beast now

They're legit I suppose but they have 1 in the past 45 seasons. They've MADE THE POSTSEASON 1 time since 2005. Not only are they not elite, they're terrible.

Yes they are. They beat the best competition from their era.

A better question is are their titles more impressive than what has been done since then.

Football is different than all other sports. The NCAA does not recognize a football national championship so a school if they want can claim a national title from basically any publication that says they are.

The NCAA has recognized college baseball national championships since 1947 so all of them are legit.

Yes, they all are legit. Let's not play Bama shenanigans in reverse. The NCAA tournament started in 1947, and all of USC's titles are a result of winning the CWS.

Yes...they won 5 in a row in the 70s and between '68-'78 won 7...they have been to the CWS 21 times winning 12 times and runner up twice but almost all this was during a 30 year period between '48-'78...

Why would you include UT if the criteria for “legitimate titles” is post-1980? They’ve only won three since then (1983, 2002, 2005), and 2 of their “illegitimate” titles happened before USC won their second title. (USC won their second title in 1958.)

Legit but they don't mean much. What have they done lately?

I’d suggest folks look up when Texas won their titles.
