Aranda was given 2.5 million to hold the team together and keep it from falling apart

The actual talking point to justify the salary was if Aranda leaves the team under Coach O would fall apart.

Now he’s taking that 2.5 million, putting a poor product on the field, making LSU drop in the polls, and giving LSU a harder road to the national championship.

LSU could find someone for 500k to produce that result.

I’m not sure about $500k but I will agree it was keep Aranda here at all costs. There does need to be an attitude adjustment in the way we have played against lesser opponents and finishing games.

I expected our defense to give up more points this year with the improved offense, but not to this level.

The kids seem confused about what to do most of the time, and that falls squarely on Aranda, he should go to the pros if he doesn’t want to teach the game.

I wouldn't call the LSU defense a poor product, but definitely not up to the standards we've been accustomed to since Saban arrived in 2000.

31-13, 31-7, 50-6.

Those were the scores of the last 3 games, the games the national media has decided to get up in arms about our defense, before the other team started scoring.

Is it ideal that the defense is losing focus and concentration? No. Is it clear to most rational observers that the vast majority of opponents scoring is taking place in quasi-garbage time? Yes.

The idea that had we beaten Arkansas 56-6 instead of 56-20 we would be ranked number 1.....if that’s true then the committee is the single most flawed way of ranking teams I’ve ever seen

I think we are all frustrated with the inconsistency of the defense.

I said earlier in the year that all this team needs to win every game is for the defense to force a couple of turnovers per game to give the offense extra possessions.

Forcing turnovers has been difficult, however, because we don't generate enough sacks/pressure.

Sack rate is highly correlated with turnover rate. We need to be more aggressive IMO.

I thought it was more to stem the tide of momentum that the Aggies were gaining after hiring Jimbo.

A poor product? WTF is wrong with some of you? And there's 4 goddamn teams in the CFP. You'll need to win twice to win it all so all of this handwringing over seeding is weird, IMO

Anymore, half a mil will get you a very good position coach.

2 excuses I'm sure you will refute...We have played all year with at least 5 of our top defenders either injured or out. Also, while there seems to be a wide difference of opinion on this, the spread has changed the dynamic for our defense and we don't have the depth to adjust.

I will say that for the first time since he got here though, there has been some very puzzling game plans put in place so he bears some responsibility. I think he's been out of his comfort zone a lot this year. I don't believe he's forgotten how to coach. With the incoming talent and another year of meshing with the new offensive philosophy, I think he will have us back as a top-tier D next year.

You do realize if Aranda wasn't here the past 3 years this year likely does not happen. Aranda and the defense has flat out won multiple games for LSU since O took over

Aranda's performance this year is sub par. Period. Doesn't mean we need to shite can him, but I won't be shedding any tears if he were to find greener pastures.

If the offense wasn't so drastically improved, Aranda's defense would have this team at 7-4 right now.

No reason to pay top dollar for that.

I, for the first time, hope someone hires him away from us after this season. His product and lack of adjustment has been really bad.
