I think undoubtedly his draft stock has gone down since last year.

He’s gotten a lot of crap but it looks like he’s hustling.

I think he could flourish as a LB and take Cox’s place.

I think he would make a great LB but I don’t think he stays around

Kind of funny because you hear a lot of people say Cox is a S in the league and Stevens will have to transition into some kind of LB

Ha.

Cox does cover very well, way better than any safety this year.

There is a shelf life for football players
Honestly I don't see many seniors coming back at LSU or across the landscape of college.
They want to go try and make a NFL roster and coming back another year and adding age to your football body is never a good thing.

I doubt it. I doubt he goes very high if drafted also. He's basically a man without a position. A great athlete, but really needed to move to LB and learn that position better to have a NFL position. I don't think he has what it takes to be a safety.

Sure.

I realize it’s unlikely but I was surprised he came back for this season. He seems very intelligent and loves the game where I could seem him being an exception to the norm and maybe wanting to finish college on a higher note, on a team and individual level.

I could see him as a special teams ace at the next level. A lot of guys have made a solid career that way.

Probably does not return, which is a shame since I doubt he makes an NFL roster. May be out of football next year.

1. His draft stock has not gone down. Everyone knew what he was by the end of last year.
2. No chance he comes back.

I don't think he returns because I think he has a good future in the NFL. I think a lot of people are underestimating his skill level. He's a hybrid between a safety and LB and I think that plays to his advantage. He can play sort of a rover position and cover the TE in certain packages and then rush the QB on other packages. I also think coming back to LSU also will play in his favor. He's a great kid and he showed that he doesn't give up, despite how tough it gets. I could easily see him go in the 4th or 5th round and play a lot of years, contributing on defense and on special teams.

Laugh all you want. What has he shown lately that suggests he will make an NFL roster? Where is he going to fit in?

Oh, and second best player on the 2019 defense? So I guess that means you had him higher than Stingley and Queen? I don't think so.

He was better than Queen. Stingley was the best.

They dont care about what he did this year. He has his 2019 tape, where he is playing in the box. Will transition to LB or play that exact role in the NFL.

I think he would have been a decently high pick if he had left after last year considering that he was named SEC Defensive Player of the Week three times during the season. But along with almost everyone else, he has looked slow and out of place in this D. He is still big, athletic and can rock people, but his speed may be an issue right now.
