We all know our issues with pitching, we have the offense to keep us in every game. One team I don’t know much about is Wake. How good are they? Just seeing who our biggest competition currently is.

Their corner infielders are legit prospects. Brock Wilken is a first rounder.

Their rotation is legit. We went after Sean Sullivan in the portal when he left Northwestern.

And their coach (former UNO coach Tom Walter) once donated a kidney to a player, and amazingly was not punished by the NCAA for it.

Wake Forest was the first school to build a pitching lab.

Very solid pitching and they've played better schedule than people here give them credit for.

I didn’t know that. They take baseball seriously up there. Oddly, though, rarely do you see any WF gear around town.

Have they put lights on their field? Back in the early 2010s Wake was looking at bidding for a regional but couldn't get access to the local minor league field.

Sadly, that's not as much of a joke as it should be.

Their pitching staff is really good. My best friend lives in Winston and we went to a game and their pitching staff is actually really impressive.

They have 3 legit starters, a legit closer, and several pro prospects.

Theyve beaten nc st, miami, louisville, duke (basically the entire acc)
And coastal carolina.

They are one of, if not our biggest challenger to a natty.

Ehh. They have the 38th overall SOS and 179 NCSOS. They do have a lot of Q1 and Q2 wins though.

Current Strength of schedule from warrennolan.com

LSU - 0.5851 SOS, #7, 1091-713 Opp Record, 0.6048 Opp Win Percent

Wake Forest - 0.5578 SOS, #38, 981-768 Opp Record, 0.5609 Opp Win Percent

Draw your own conclusions.

Whatever you decide, however, know that Wake is indeed a very good team. I do not think they are as good as LSU. Not sure they are as good as South Carolina or Vandy either but I have not actually seen them play nor would my opinion necessarily be a good one to trust
