it was so bizarre watching the tigers play a shootout with a great offense while the defense got shredded in the second half.

I mean, it was fun and exciting but still, I can't get over it. it was like being in the twilight zone.

I knew it was going to be a fun season to watch.

Reminded me a lot of the Georgia game in 2013 except this time we actually won

I'm still hungover from the game and drive back yesterday. I should have taken off work today.
Ready to lay on the couch and watch the Saints game.

Wednesday it'll sink in.

I am flabbergasted!
Throwing the ball all over the place in the 4th Q had me pumped. Didnt matter down or distance.

O has done what he said he will do. I was slow to get on the train, I am impressed

Hopefully this team doesn't turn out to be a repeat of the 2013 team - great senior QB, Studs at receiver/ RB, high scoring offense but subpar defense. I still believe this defense is far too talented and deep to not put it all together and be one of the tops in the league. I believe the Texas game will be an outlier.

It’s nice to know if we don’t absolutely shut down an offense we still have a puncher’s chance of winning the game.

It is definitely surreal to see us be that aggressive....

Coach O showed total confidence in the Offense and a lack of confidence (for this game) in the Defense. This turned out to be the right call....

But, if we had thrown an incomplete pass or if Joe had gotten sacked on 3rd and 17....

It goes against every bit of who we've been over the last 10 years... run-run-run - punt and play D.

Yes, but I knew when Ingram dropped the TD pass that we were going to win the game.

You can’t make mistakes like that in those situations and win. They always come back to haunt you in the end.

This defense is better than 2013. The offense is better as well. Even with Mettenberger there was a lot of I formation.

And I do not see Burrow having that horrible game at Ole Miss.

The spread the field and make the defense cover is much tougher to handle. Mettenberger was not enough of a running threat to run this offense.

We won't play many teams with an offense, and especially a QB, as good as Texas. Bama is about it.

Even then, having an offense that is just as good might be more important. I have full faith in Burrow and co to go toe to toe with Trevor Lawrence or Tua. It'll be about the defense getting key stops. The goal line stand for instance was huge.

I am. I'm glad the Tigers won, but it was very weird. It will take some time for me to get used to this.

This team has way better personnel than the 2013 defense, although I would suggest that Chavis made some personnel decisions that should not have been made. He wanted Beckwith as a 4-3 end, Beckwith wanted to play Mike Backer, midway in 2014 that is where Beckwith was put and LSU's defensive issues for the 2013 and first part of 2014 were put to rest.

In modern football, sometimes the QB's and play callers are just to good. The NFL has trouble stopping this stuff. In 2011, a loaded LSU defense had 570 yards of offense and 460 passing put on it on by WVU with Geno Smith and Tavon Austin. That team had 6 NFL DB's (Mo, Reid, Badger, Taylor, Brooks and Simon), 2 were 1st rounders and Badger would have been a 1st rounder, had 2 First rounders on the DL with Mingo and Brockers. Somtimes a QB and WR's in these spread offenses get hot and you can't stop it.

2013 did NOT have a great senior QB. They had a guy with all the measurables and great arm talent, who gave away multiple games single-handedly (Ole Miss and Clemson) and failed to deliver victory when the game was placed in his hands (Georgia).

Absolutely. Coach O said that we won't win many games by giving up 38 points. He's right but it's good that we now have another way we can win a game.

We were weak at MLB until Beckwith learned the position, but our bigger problem - much, much bigger - was with the defensive line. In 2013 "Freak" Johnson was a junior, and he was barely good enough to be a backup. Micky Johnson was a four star bust. We had decent - not good - DEs, with the best being Danielle Hunter as a sophomore. And Christian LaCouture was playing significant minutes as a true freshman. That was a TERRIBLE defensive line. It's very difficult to play linebacker behind that.

What made 2014 better was mainly that true freshman Godchaux started coming on halfway through the season, and LaCouture had turned into a fairly good lineman. Beckwith starting to figure it out was also big.

Imagine how many more points we could have scored if we had run the same offense in the 1st quarter that we did in the other 3. That should scare the shite out of the rest of our schedule. That's not a shot at Steve either. This offense is in its infancy and he's still figuring it out and I trust that we will continue to improve.
