I can say, speaking on behalf of many Ohio State fans, that Joe Burrow is followed so closely because Joe Burrow was a local high school legend. His high school career was sensationalized here in the Buckeye State.

I was thinking the same thing as the OP this morning but this quote makes it make sense for me. Didn’t realize his high school career was such a big deal up there.

I always respected Ohio’s support for him down here but couldn’t figure out why it was to the extent it is right now. This clears it up.

Carry on!

I mean if we are being honest with ourselves if you compare who Dwayne Haskins to Joe Burrow it is clear as ice water Urban chose the right starter.

Not if you listen to the OSU fans who post here. To them Burrow is better than not only Haskins but JT Barrett as well. And there are some LSU fans who say they prefer Burrow over Haskins and Barrett.

I like Burrow and believe he will only get better. He will elevate QB play at LSU. I believe he gives us a chance to beat each team, including Bama. Mainly because we no longer have QB killer Les Miles. And He’s cool, calm and collected under pressure. However nothing I’ve seen that remotely indicates he is better than Barrett or Haskins. Both of whom I believe would make this LSU team almost unbeatable.

Yeah right. That’s it.

What about Scott at Missouri. Wasn’t he also Louisiana’s Mr Football?

No, certainly not. I'd say it is for sure unusual and maybe even astounding but not really weird and certainly not 'creepy'. Seriously. Enjoy it or get over it.

OSU fans are not nearly as negative overall as LSU fans, or teams of fans in the SEC in general.

I think it is because he won an Ohio state championship and was Mr. Ohio football. So he's a native son through and through.

I think it's great.

It feels like LSU has people rooting for the Tigers coast-to-coast. With Ohio/Burrow and Assumption/MA/CA it feels like LSU has made some "connections" with people in other states this season.

There's nothing negative about it. It's great.

I’ll never shut the door on people finding a way, whatever their reasoning, to root for LSU.

Joe was Mr. Football in Ohio. He's better than Barrett and should have started in front of him but Meyer had some creepy weird loyalty thing going on with Barrett so he allowed Barrett to stay at OSU for twenty years. Burrow is a good Ohio kid that we want to succeed because we feel he sort of got shafted. Frankly, if LSU were to play OSU, then many of us would be pulling for LSU. I know I would.

I don't know, if Lee would have transferred I would have still followed his college career just because I always felt Miles screwed him. Maybe some feel Joe should have started at Ohio State.

4th string

Should’ve cashed that ticket to his Ivy League school.
So dumb on his part.

Many people here were laughing because he was low on the depth chart at Mizzou.

I mean, thanks? But this is exactly why people think it's a little weird, assuming you really are an OSU fan and not a troll LSU fan.

The reason, I, as an OSU fan support Joe, and concurrently LSU, is that Joe did everything right at OSU, was pure class and a very good player, and just got beat out by a (probably) slightly better player. It would be a real shame for Joe to have all of his talent and not be able to put it to use. Glad he is showing his class and skills at LSU.

Very secondarily, if he, and LSU, play well, then Alabama will have some competition in the SEC -- which is to the advantage of OSU.
