I know it’s all doom and gloom after losing a game you shouldn’t but I feel we could lose another close game and win the rest and still make the playoffs. That would mean likely beating Bama or Texas and winning at Auburn, Arky, and Tennessee. The positive for us is that we have lost early in the season. Obviously we have to actually win going forward which is the hard part. I’m not giving up on the season yet

We might not beat any of those teams

We have to run the table to make a 12 team playoff and that's the way it should be

Probably not. I do think we could win out though.

Not sure about that. To get in with 3 losses we'd need to not just win but dominate Bama, Texas and TN. That means our loss would have to come from Miss. State, Auburn or Arky.

I'm just not sure there's a scenario where we beat enough good teams to show we deserve to get in while taking another loss to a non elite team.

No. Because you would need OM and Uk to win at least 9 games for them to be “quality losses”. But then the problem is you are competing with them for a playoff spot and they both hold the head to head advantage.

So very unlikely

I think someone in SEC is getting it at 3 losses this year. So many early losses in both B10 and SEC unexpected. Georgia is the last undefeated team and should've lost last night. Committee is suppose to factor in SOS this year. They may have no choice but to add a 3 loss SEC team with the current trajectory. This seems especially obvious if someone blows up the second half and looks like the best team in the SEC. Not saying it will be LSU but whoever.

It's going to depend a lot on how other teams end up by the end of the season. I mean there's a possibility, sure. Bama was 9-3 two years ago and was the first team out, but last year Vandy went 10-2 and it still wasn't enough. This year is the first year for the 9 game conference schedule so perhaps a 9-3 team will get in this year. But if, say, it's us, Ole Miss, and Kentucky at 9-3? They're getting in over us probably due to H2H.

We pretty much have to win out and get to 10-2. At 9-3 it's not impossible but is pretty improbably, not something I would count on for sure. Obviously 8-4 or worse you can forget about it.

I agree, at least 1 SEC team gets in with 3 losses. And looking at Ole Miss’s remaining schedule they will likely have 3 losses. And since they beat LSU head to head they would get that spot over LSU.

Same with UK

Despite the doom and gloom today, 9-3 is very realistic.

But it won’t get us in the playoff

I really doubt it. If we win out - 100%, whereas if we lose again, probably less than 10%.

Our only chance at playoffs is to win out.

I cannot see that happening.

Playoffs? Playoffs? Are you kidding? Two losses already with Texas, Alabama, Tennessee, Auburn on deck. Not in the playoff conversation now and never this season.

If we beat the rest of our games except a close loss to either Texas or Bama, I think we would get in at 9 - 3.

However, knowing this team, we might do that then lose at Tennessee.

Still don't understand SEC's decision to go to 9 games. That will cause at least 2 SEC teams that would qualify to be left out.

Right now, I only see Georgia and Bama getting in and probably Texas. If we still had 8 sec games, I see Ole Miss and another team making it.

I think Sankey gets fired after this season.
