they get the drops issues cleaned up, the team will be much stronger. the last couple of games it reminds me of drops in burrows first year (jefferson, as i recall, dropped a few hitting him in the hands).

Laniappe: Emery reminds me alot of Darren McFadden when he played for Arkansas.

IDK, McFadden was a much stronger back.

Emery is a floater with great acceleration. Looks like Tony Dorsett a little.

McFadden was extremely smooth. Watch him run a 4.33 at the combine. LINK

Amazingly Chad Jones almost catches McFadden from behind here: at the 3:50 mark.

I think we are averaging 4 or 5 drops a game so far.

You mean stronger as in actual strength or hitting somebody? I've seen a boatload of times Emery pulls and drags multiple guys with him. Watch the Vandy game and his highlights from last year. He doesn't run people over, but he seems to pull guys for extra yards a lot.

PFF has 8 drops on us first 2 games (4 each game), worst in conference. Marshall has half of those. Interesting is that all 14 of Marshall's targets were deemed catchable for him, but has just 10 receptions with 4 drops.

South Carolina has 7, Auburn 6.

Bama has just 1, they were incredible in this area last year too.

I think this falls squarely on abridged off-season. Joseph is supposed to be quite solid in terms of developing WR talent — worked closely with Brady last year, and I remember seeing a spark as soon as Orgeron took over.

If there’s one thing I think you can count on getting better, it’s WR performance. I’m more worried about defense and the youth + lack of depth there.

The passes were right in their bread basket...the ones I recall were dimes from Brennan.

I remember one drop on 3rd down that was perfect and it would have been a first down.

On Saturday Emery reminded me of Marcus Allen. Like Allen, he seemed to just pop through very tight holes with no one able to lay a hand on him. Very smooth. Very controlled.

Exactly the opposite.

He's apparently quite solid in recruiting WR talent and placating all the NOLA high school coaches.

Brady departs and the drops arrive. That's no coincidence.

Occam's Razor; The simplest explanation is usually the correct one. (MJ is in over his head as a Tech WR Coach at this level of competition)

There were 13 drops on Saturday.

Gilbert 1, Kirklin 4, Boutte 1, Marshall 2, Jenkins 1, McMath 1, Palmer 1, Moore 2.

Think how Brennan's stats would have looked if even half of those had been caught.
