Just because he didn’t want the job doesn’t mean he won’t do a decent job. As a man, if I ever fail at something I want to prove to the world that I can do much better than I did previously. I have to believe that Ensminger will go into it with the same mindset. It might not be the hire we wanted, but it’s who we’re forced to ride with. I hope he’s successful because if he is successful, the team is successful. And if the team being successful means we keep O for another year, then oh well. I’d rather the team be successful than hoping they aren’t just because I want the head coach gone.

I didn't say he wouldn't be decent, but if the guy was saying he didn't want that job, he was trying to say something. I think he can do a decent job, but LSU needs much more than a decent play caller on offense...especially next year with basically all unknowns at the skill positions for LSU.

Persuaded to take the OC job? I wouldn't be surprised.

Well, here we are.

I really hope Steve does a good job as offensive coordinator and I have no problem with him personally I think he’s a good coach but the problem I have is with the process by which the position was filled

Do tell since you seem to have inside knowledge on the process.

Saban is 66. The age argument doesn't fly.

O obviously wanted someone who wouldn’t care if he meddled in the play calling

QB play and how the O line shapes up.

The problem is that you can have the best QB play in the world (or OL) and without a competent offensive mind calling plays, you'll never succeed at a high level. You can't half arse one component and expect to have a good/great offense. By hiring Ensminger we're putting ourself in the hole from the get go. Good performance by players may get us to "serviceable" but it likely will never get us to "great'.

Okay, how about "yet again,. we hire someone who would never have a chance to get the same job at ANY other school."

Better?

whatever process caused us to hire a guy who was fired from all of his previous OC jobs, the last of which was 20 years ago. especially when said guy did not want the job. And like many have said, I don't have a problem with SE, the problem is with zero and alleva...

this two guys that would not get a sniff from ANY other school for the same position. And they are 2 of the 3 highest profile positions on the football team.

Would you call Matt Flynn or Matt Mauck great QB’s? I think most would agree they fall under the serviceable tag.

Isn't this Detiller one of those "experts" running around telling everyone that every LSU draft-eligible junior is leaving because they're projected 1st round?

F him.
