Steve Ensminger told me & others he had no interest in being the offensive coordinator. This is Coach O persuading him to take the spot. U feel different but Steve is a good coach. Now, calling plays on gameday is an art form. Only a few excel at it. Develop Myles & Lowell at QB

I really hope Steve does a good job as offensive coordinator and I have no problem with him personally I think he’s a good coach but the problem I have is with the process by which the position was filled

so the guy really didnt want it because he knows he isnt a good play called or strategist but O pushes into a job he understands he cant to well

if he wanted it i support giving him a chance but if he had to be forced into accepting it we are truly screwed because that means he knows he cant do the job.

if this is true, and not BS like 60% of the talk out there, then this is really bad

He's almost 60 and a grandfather who likely just wants to chill and have a nice pension. He didn't want the headache or responsibility of the job. And who can fricking blame him after all the vitriol he's already received. He's been OC at Auburn, Clemson, A&M, and LSU. I doubt he thinks he's unqualified.

I’m older than Steve. He doesn’t want it because of the stress and strain as compared to what he has. He will never be able to put in the effort that it takes for him to be successd.
It’s just a shame.

O wanted his mama to take the position, but she politely declined 27 times.

This sentiment will not go over well BUT, Ensminger is a good coach. Nobody is happy with anything regarding the hire, including myself. Ensminger is going to do his best to put a good offense on the field. He did a pretty decent job in 2016 considering the circumstances. It is not out of the realm of possibility that we could have a decent enough offense next year to win games. We certainly have the talent to do it. It’s going to come down to the same things as always, QB play and how the O line shapes up. Everybody was pretty pleased with the O line hire and we have some good talent there. I’m NOT saying we will have the best offense in the country. I’m just saying don’t crucify him and the offense before we have even played a snap.

The narrative on CC is that he's happy in his role and wants to finish his career doing that. OC is the most scrutinized position on staff and he didn't want that headache. Orgeron came to him and said nobody would take the job and Ensminger had to take it.

It's a shite show.

This is the thing that worries me. I have no doubt that Ensminger will give it all he has. I just don't know how much left he has to give.

I don't see how your heart can be into doing a job to 100% of your ability if you have to be persuaded to do it.

Ensminger did a very good job to bring life to a dead offense last year, but it has been reported over and over than he didn't want to be the OC. He was fired as an OC both times that he held the position in the past. It doesn't mean he's not a good football coach, it just means he's not the best option as an offensive coordinator. We all know the point totals we had against Bama and UF - teams with really good talent.

I saw O praise Ensminger as being "loyal" last year and how he is "loyal" to Steve. Miles was loyal to Cam Cameron and vice versa. Bad setup.

That’s completely understandable. But saying we are going to lose 7 games just based off the OC hire is kind of overblown. We still have superior talent to a lot of teams on our schedule. Especially on defense. And our defense will be very salty next year.

The D should be great next year, but the offense is the biggest question mark I can remember in a very long time. We have no returning impact players at the skill positions. Combined with breaking in a new QB and a new OC, that's pretty scary.
