Anybody here witness the legendary "Dungeon" fights between Shaq and Stanley Roberts?

Just watched a video on the Shaq and Kobe beef, and reminded me of the stories I heard working at LSU about these two giants playing pick up games in the "Dungeon" which would get intense, then physical, then turn into full-blown fist fights that barely got broken up by multiple teammates because of the size of the two.
Just curious if anybody on here ever witnessed one of these games or fights?

How about the one between Shaq and Anthony Marshall in Broussard ?

Stanley was so skilled it's just crazy that he never did much. North gate liquor wasn't good for his career.

He actually went to class

I talked to him numerous times when I worked at LSU about ten or eleven years ago. He was back in school getting his degree and living in an apartment on campus. Really nice guy.
When these fights were mentioned, he just said "Yeah. Those games got intense."

Shawn King as well...he was kicked out of LSU even though he was a starter in 1991.

There was some legendary LB (Tim Pope maybe?) who was only here briefly, but was rumored to be a bad man. Does anyone know of those stories?

YES!!!!!! Over a piece of arse too...led to both coaches showing up and Dale Brown getting pompous and trying to talk down to Curley, and then he said this:
"Ill step to you, and ill step threw you Dale if you ever question my manhood or integrity again"
Man Anthony Marshall still is one of my favorite all time tigers, Gabe Northern is another one....Id give blood for both today if they needed it.

Had a friend on the team at the time who talks about Tim Pope stories from time to time. He was so bad the coaches wouldn't even mess with him.

Not LSU but, I heard that Rick Jackson (former Saints LB) had an apartment in Fla for off season battles. The story goes that other NFL players would show up in the off-season and take Ricky on. Sometimes more than one player against Rickey at a time. Supposedly Rickey dominated.

Man, it's a shame we didn't have Roberts for more than 1 year. Go watch the games from 1990. He was such a developed and polished big. Shaq was an incredible athlete and defender and could dunk on anyone at that time but Roberts was actually a polished low post player. It's a shame he left after 1 year.
I always add Roberts to an LSU all-time great team. If not a starter at PF, he is the backup center to Shaq.

Would you say he "took out the trash"?

even in Ricky Jackson's final years in the NFL he could toss offensive tackles aside like rag dolls. he was the baddest player I ever saw in the NFL. He played linebacker in the NFL for 15 years!

Close.
Vaughan Johnson holds that title for me.
During his first game against the 49ers:
quote:
Roger Craig after being hit by Johnson told his teammates in the huddle- " I don't know who that guy is, but don't let him hit me again. That guy hurts"
quote:
His lifetime best athletic performance came against the San Francisco 49ers, a longtime Saints nemesis. “I made a lot of tackles (669 stops for his career), but against the 49ers, I had 28 tackles in one game,” he chuckled. “[Defensive coordinator] Steve Sidwell told me, ‘I don’t know what you ate before the game, but I hope you eat it again.’” What the jaw-breaking tackler ate game day was QB Joe Montana, RB Roger Craig and FB Tom Rathman.
Johnson didn't even look like a human being in his uniform. It looked so small on him compared to everyone else that he looked more like a Silverback with a helmet shoved on. Was an absolute beast.

I can affirm that Ricky Jackson dominated every one of them. And I did not witness a single one. First I heard of it was this thread, and I can still affirm that.

Shook his hand at party in college. His finger tips reached well past my wrist. Pretty sure he could have palmed the keg.

Yep. I sat next to him in an Economics class in Tureaud. He was a big fella. Mike Hansen and Lenear Burns were in the same class.
