Bama fans weren’t happy with his tenure there.

I would think with how horrendous our line was this year, that you would want to make sure the next hire is successful even more so. The last thing we need is another inept offensive line where we can't run the ball and don't have time to throw the ball.

It would be basically incompetent with all these new hires to have the line wreck our offense again. So I'm just gonna hope that he's better than we know

Bad hire. Hasn't been good in awhile apparently. SC, Bama, and Kentucky fans all wanted him gone. He has decades of experience but that doesn't mean he's still at the top of his game coaching. His last few stops have been bad. Basically, Saban fired him without directly firing him. This is a lazy hire.

Folks point out that he did well with Bama and Saban but that was with a very good runner at QB (Milroe).

Maybe so but Alabama's 2024 and 25 rushing yardage were worse with or without Milroe than in 2022 or 23, so the new guy hasn't really torn it up.
I trust Kiffin more than what KY or Bama fans opinions.

Plus Bama's OC in 22 and 23 were Bill O'Brien who Tide fans loathed and then Tommy Rees from the Brian Kelly coaching tree. Neither of which were very innovative to say the least. Kiffin's scheme is very different and he mixes his rushing play calls.

Kentucky didnt like him

They hired him twice. He left there for Bama, then came back when DeBoer brought his guys in. YPC under him have been up and down, likely related to the backs he's had. His Resume since 2009 (first season in the SEC)

2009 - South Carolina (OL) - hired by Steve Spurrier- left for HC job

2010-2014 - Youngstown State (HC)

2015-2016 - 49ers (asst. OL) - there for two coaches, Jim Tomsula and Chip Kelly, left when Chip Kelly and the 49ers GM were fired

2017 - 2020 - South Carolina (OL) - Left for a better job

2021 - 2023 - Alabama (OL) - Hired by Nick Saban left when Deboer took over bringing his own people.

2024-2025 - Kentucky (OL) - Leaving now after Stoops was fired and coming to a better job

I didn't go back to before he came to the SEC, but every time he has left a team, it seems to be because of a regime change or a better job. That doesn't mean he is bad or good, but I doubt that it's a bad thing.

What? Are you just making stuff up? Saban RETIRED and Deboer brought in his own people, so Wolford left. Troll.

I don’t know much about him, but I know UK (and Stoops) were pissed when/how he left for Bama yet they rehired him.

That is pretty strong evidence that at least Stoops loved the guy. The only assumption is that Stoops can evaluate OL coaches well. BTW, my choice would have been Sam Pittman, recently fired coach at Arkansas. He was always been highly regarded as an OL coach...head coach...not so much.

ehhhh.

He's a better technical coach with more experience than Davis.

He's well versed in any of the systems/schemes (or similar as it relates to blocking) CLK will run going back to Spurrier and USCe.

I'm more hopeful with Wolford than with Davis when he was first hired. But I do not think he's on the level of what we need personally. His OL's have not performed well, as many have noted and he's never been singled out as being as a 'developer' because he rarely spends more than a couple of years at any stop.

I'll put it this way, my hope he is a stop gap measure for a year or two until CLK can get the guy who he really wants, whomever that is.

Well from the sounds of what went on in practice and our lack of S&C i think that is where our main concern starts is Savage doing better with the strength and conditioning. From the sounds of it our o-line didnt know what hitting sleds were till Kelly was fired... Isnt that offensive line training 101

No, I'm not making stuff up. Saban even said it in an interview a big reason he retired outside NIL and changes in NCAA was his last few staffs were not on par to what he was use to getting. Seemed like he was taking a direct shot at guys like Wolford which everyone knows wasn't a good coach. The word there was he was going to be told to take a hike but Saban just retired. There was lots of staff moves going to happen. Saban was just tired of it and said he's done. Anyone with eyes could see Bama's last few staffs were under par to what they usually had so you can see why Saban was sick of dealing with it. Just because you don't like hearing the truth doesn't make me a troll. Kiffin has done a great job but this isn't one of his strong points so far in moves.
