First pick - CBS; although I saw lots of Florida and Tennessee games
Second pick - ESPN
Third pick - Jefferson Pilot
Forth pick and my favorite and maybe at one time it was third — 8 pm. Death Valley shook on many of these. See Mississippi State 2000.
this was the best because only the truly arse games got regulated to 11am
now that ESPN has it all, they try to fill that slot with decent games and it sucks for everyone. Then they limit what is up agains the prime time spot

I don’t miss it at all.
I like 6:30.

I for sure miss the intro music, that intro left no doubt that this was the biggest college football game that weekend.
Disney needs to buy the rights to that shite already.

So happy to never hear Gary. Was especially happy when Turkey Neck Verne retired early. Eric Reid Ohhhh Nooooo.

Verne and Gary actually had a great dynamic and I thought great broadcasting voices (maybe it's just nostalgia). The problem with them was the drooling over Bama and other anti-LSU things they would get hyper fixated on.
The intro music was the best though and always floods back memories of being at family deer camp knowing I was going to watch the first quarter of whatever game was on, then head out the stand and then come back middle 4th quarter.

CBS might have been offering more money, but I love this deal with ABC/ESPN. It's better for baseball and basketball too. I can watch damn near every sporting event that LSU has going on with the ESPN app.

I miss Verne verbally ogling college girls that the camera had focused on during the game.

Nothing gave me goose bumps like the theme song for SEC on CBS.

It makes no sense, but I miss the intro music-not the broadcast.

Yeah, let's face it, once the Saban era at Bama was underway, Gary and Verne were both pulling for Bama against LSU every time they had that broadcast. They really didn't try to hide it. "Nick this" and "Nick that." I always thought that was a bad look for CBS.
That said, it was always a good broadcast, and if your team was playing in that game, it usually meant you had a good team. LSU played in a lot of those games through the years. Probably won several more than they lost..
I agree with another poster that it was a good slot for LSU road games. 2019 game at Bama was epic.

I do miss the CBS broadcast and miss watching other teams play at 230, but I don't miss LSU playing at 230. Catching Bama or Tenn at 230 while waiting for LSU on ESPN that night was nice.
On the ABC broadcast, it has been terrible. The crowd noise is louder than the announcers and you can't hear a word they say. It was awful.
I'm no Sean McDoughnut fan either. Don't care for his delivery and voice at all.
