Why not? Neville arena was built for under 90.

At this point you’ve got to be trolling. Construction on Neville (Auburn) Arena broke ground 18 years ago.

They need to build a new PMAC on track and field facilities. It will be next to all practice facilities. Make it well enough to attract top concerts that generate new revenue.

Was told that was option 1 but was too costly to build new T&F facility. And less acreage for Oak View to develop/generate revenue

Feel like they desperately need a new indoor. It would at least give LSU opportunities to host some regional events that Arkansas normally takes.

Will be interesting to see how LSU develops the PMAC location if it gets torn down.

“Maybe u don’t visit that often. But there’s ppl there who in their everyday. They know the problems

I go enough to know they play sports in there and I can watch the sports just fine”

I spend a lot of time in it. I have Mbb.. gym.. wbb.. volleyball season tickets ..

Pmac is fine.. my seats are comfortable.. drinks cold or hot .. food selections tasty .. ( jambalaya is good but go to the ma/pa place )… bottomless popcorn fresh and hot ..

The study was done by lsu and others ..

Come on …. we know why any of this may happen …. This is Louisiana.. good news though… the guys that are on the the short list for the development did just get out of trouble.. Trump gave them a pardon last month I believe.

Also the tax is only being added to the EDD itself, not to the state so not sure what you're issue is

Initially they told us the project was going to be privately funded. Now they need tax dollars.

That indicates the developer isn’t going to fund it all and tax dollars are going to be used.

Where is the study or info showing that major concerts will come to Baton Rouge?

Don’t need a study. How about Led Zeppelin, Lynrd Skynrd, and others at the PMAC in the late 70s? Other big names in the 80s. Was NO around back then? Some stupid administrators and stupid politicians shut down BR as a destination for top bands.

I say they skip on that and reallocate funds into the football program.

Then tear down the PMAC and build a new one in the same location. Texas did it with the Erwin Center. Basketball can play in the Cow Palace again for a few seasons.

Have you been in there recently? Do you how much work would have to be done just to meet the bare minimum requirements to host a college sporting event?

Smoothie King wasn't there in the 80's. You make an interesting point about Politicans being involved. I just don't see it happening. Hope it does though.

LSU gets a brand new state of the art arena free of charge. And yet we still have people b#tching about it.

This will bring concerts to Baton Rouge instead of being lost to New Orleans and Lafayette. Money then flows into Baton Rouge. And yet we have people b#tching about it.

Anyone who is against the arena is either anti LSU or an idiot!

A new arena funded by all private funds would be a no brainer.

So what’s holding things up? Why the tax? Let’s roll. Let the developer loose.

It needs to built now! The tax is only for the land surrounding the arena. If you don’t want to pay the tax then don’t buy a Coke at the new arena.

If you offered any city in America a 400 million dollar arena free of charge they would run over you with a bus to land it.

Only in Baton Rouge we got idiots non stop trying to stop it! Talk about backwards!!!!!

There not only building a state of the art Arena. Our Lady of the Lake intends to build a sports medicine center next door. A entertainment district has been proposed as well a hotel in the area surrounding the new arena. Also research facilities are being proposed in this area as well.

The arena is win, win, win for LSU and Baton Rouge!

I'd rather they spend that money bulldozing the ghettos around campus and building a nice modern campus for students and fans and building a wall around it like a fort from the BR riff raff.

Agree. Since moving here I have always wondered why somebody didn’t buy all the boarded up buildings around Tigerland and North Gate. The return on investment has to be higher than throwing money at players. Hotels built on the golf course would stay booked solid for nine months.
