FWIW I completely agree with you. Jay knows how to micro-recruit to his teams needs, so hopefully his approach is quality instead of quantity this year. He already has some key pieces in place. Maybe he can recruit Frey and Jones to come back

Things are going to get even more difficult for LSU with the Revenue Share.
Football will take the largest chunk of the 20 mil, 13 last I read. That leaves 7 mil to split between Baseball, WBB, and Gymnastics. And you still have to fund MBB, softball and any of the other non-revenue sports.
I just don’t know how that’s all going to work.

Reducing the roster size this year makes quality over quantity even more relevant.

Not really.
The revenue sharing is just what the school can directly pay the players. There is no prohibition on NIL...just like there isn't now. In other words, the players (all sports) "compensation" will not be strictly limited to revenue sharing. If Richard Lipsey, Gordon McKernan and others what to contribute significant NIL funds to pay baseball players well above the % they will receive via revenue sharing, they can (and will) still do that.

Every other school we compete against will be doing basically the same thing.

Wish we would've got this guy. Is that the left throwing 98 from the left side? Good luck anyone against him since he went to TAMU.

Yes. He's also the one who was kicked off the team due to an ongoing legal issue, that many suspect to be very, very serious in nature.

Yea rumors of being dismissed or told to look elsewhere because of sexual assault allegations and Baylors history are floating around. Who knows what to believe. He hasn't been charged with anything.

Well that should be a lesson to the pitchers in the portal….
Do you want to win a Natty and be a top pick in the MLB draft, or do you want to take the 200k upfront, and lose… sounds short sighted to me….

Not to mention having 1 and possibly 2 #1 pics in 3 years!

We will add pitching, for sure.

Terrible take.
Maybe for football. But we have the most dedicated baseball fan base and there will be a significant increase in nil and donations for baseball now that everyone is 100% bought in to baseball. The people that remember the amazing 90s run are at their peak earning power right now and they want to relive those glory days.
Our best days are ahead of us.

Volchko entered the portal with a do not contact tag. No smoke on who hes signing with but would be a big add for someone. #26 ranked prospect for next years draft.

Gage Jump, Luke Holman, Anthony Eyanson, and Paul Skenes were much better than the group of this years transfer portal player. At least right now.
He was a good two-way player at Air Force, we expected a fastball in the mid- 90s.

Transfer players that I have heard are linked to #LSU:
3B Bryce Calloway (UNO)
RHP Landon Mack (Rutgers)
LHP Dylan Loy (Tennessee)
MIF Jarren Advincula (Cal)
LHP Santiago Garcia (Oregon)
I saw some highlights of Landon Mack, stuff looks very good.
I like the stable of arms we have coming back, but I think adding 1 elite weekend-level arm as well as some lefties for the pen would be just right.

Jay has stated a few times that his goal isn't to rebuild this roster through the portal, but develop what he already has here. I expect our portal efforts to be minimal this year.
I don’t think Jay jumps on anything early. He probably likes what he has coming back. Wait and see if an absolute stud goes in the portal and jump on him. If there is something happening already behind the scenes I wouldn’t doubt Jay is already on top of the situation

Is that only an LSU problem?
