quote:this is correct. Short term pain for long term gain.
If a few loses speed up the departure of an incompetent HC, then so be it.
The health and strength of the program is a lot more important than LSU losing a few games.
If it's clear that a coach isn't going to get us where we want to be, then it's better to get rid of him, rather than let him linger for a few more mediocre or bad years. All that does is delay getting the coach who can get things going in the right direction.

No, 14 more days saves 2 mil on Wade's buyout.
MM's buyout is 80% of remaining balance of his contract. So waiting until April to fire MM really doesn't do much.

I’m not sure why you think this is unique. There’s always a target when you’re trying to switch coaches
Well, I've watched LSU go through several searches and never have I seen our athletic department go after one coach, stay focused on that one coach, and be willing to go all in on that coach during the search (even when it meant waiting).
If we missed on Kiffin, we would have been in a tough spot. If we miss on Wade, we're in an uncomfortable spot of bringing back a coach that has no fan support, and no semblance of success to build upon.
See a lot of similarities on these two processes.
Sorry, you're not able to grasp these similarities. it may be a little over your head.

Then we have the wrong people in leadership. Simple as that.
It does seem, however, that LSU has done everything it can to show Will Wade that the right people are now in leadership positions. The new LSU president and new Board of Supervisors chairman have McNeese ties. The current McNeese AD could be a candidate for an opening at LSU.

I've been saying the same. But I also agree that things could get cranked up once NC State is eliminated, which could be as early as tonight.

Any Comments from the AD Ausberry on Basketball?
You would think that Verge, like the ADs at Oklahoma and Pittsburgh, who have said their coaches would return for 2026-27 perhaps with improved NIL commitments, would comment on McMahon's status. The last thing Verge has said publicly was that McMahon would have to advance to the NCAA tournament. LSU finished last, didn't advance to any postseason tournament, and has lined up administrative support for Will Wade to show him how serious LSU is in wanting him back. By Verge not commenting, it also could indicate a desire to eliminate distractions for Wade in the NCAA tournament, however long NC State hangs around.

It’s just unreal how bad McMahon’s contract is.
Thank Scott...

It literally cannot get worse than what it is now. Newsflash: interest in the program is at an all time low. We have finished in the cellar three out of the last four years. When is enough enough?
It can absolutely get worse. We can fire McMahon, have no plan, hire a mid major that hasn't won anything, then have to buy him out too in 3 years.
Again, no Booster will agree to that.
EDIT: Firing Will Wade without a real plan is what got us into this situation and now you want to do it again.

I mean I’m pretty sure someone would have posted if Verge had made comments.

A fan stick with the team win or lose. Yes we would like lsu to win more, but I’ll never stop supporting.

It's odd that we are approaching a week since the end of basketball, and there have been no public comments on the future of LSU basketball. No vote of confidence, no we expect improvement next season, no nothing.
It is pretty obvious that LSU is guarding its money right now. It tells me that nobody is ponying up cash to get rid of McMahon because he certainly has earned it. It is still possible that LSU makes a post tourney regime change when they see who is available but I think it is obvious that they are not looking to get into a bidding war.
The key thing here is that doing nothing right now is a safe play because no target coach is available until after the tourney. The other wild card is WTH Mcmahon might leave on his own... doubt it but would save a lot of money.

Question we really should be asking is: will any mid-major coach we hire if we can McMahon generate the donor support and excitement for the program like Wade returning can? If the answer's no, then we need to pull all stops to get Wade back and make him say no. We hit on Wade but clearly didn't on McMahon and McMahon was a successful mid-major coach. This has to factor into our approach for men's basketball going forward.
The Wadeophiles are delusional. He isn't going to get hired. No one in the hiring process has suggested that Wade's rehire is a possibility. No decent university will rehire a coach that has been run off.
Posted on 3/17/26 at 5:29 pm to chinhoyang
Our governor’s in his corner, the university president was McNeese’s president when Wade coached there, and the chairman of the BOS is a McNeese and Wade guy, we purged ourselves of those who were quick to fire Wade

Why do you want some loser whose team is in a giant slide, probably won't come close to making the tournament after tonight's defeat.
I bet $400 on Texas.

The WDS figs on the rant are pulling for NC st to go to the Final 4 and win it. Which is ironic AND hilarious.

No you didn’t, everything you say is untrue
