TRANSFER UPDATE:
@LSUbaseball
OF Paxton Kling has entered the Transfer Portal, I'm told. Kling, 6-2, 205, was a highly touted high school player who headed to BR with high acclaim. Hasn't panned out yet but the tools are there.

Good luck to the man. Needs a fresh start.

This sucks. There's an excellent ballplayer in there somewhere. Wish he could find it at LSU

I wouldn't go that far. I'm sure he wanted him to stay but wasn't going to guarantee him PT.

Well we said all season there would be major roster turnover once we finished up. Here it comes.

I'm trusting Jay to bring in the missing pieces.

He probably needs to go somewhere he can get more playing time against possibly lesser competition. I say that, so watch him go somewhere big and turn it on.

I appreciate he came to LSU.

No but I think he saw two freshman getting the majority of the starts in the outfield down the stretch.

No. He got beat out by a freshman who wasn't even thought to be a position player coming into the year. He needs to go to a lower level school where he can start everyday and get 200+ at bats. Probably a smart decision on his part.

Absolutely not

But from the player's perspective, competing for a job is risky. If you don’t win the spot for whatever reason, there isn’t anything you can do.

These guys want to play, and play everyday

From Jay’s perspective, you can’t guarantee a position because that isn’t what is best for the team.

He may go to South Carolina with Maneri since that is who he signed for initially. Several of our players in the portal may end up there.

Sucks it didn’t pan out but everyone who watched this season saw this coming. Jay gave him every opportunity earlier in the season but the kid just couldn’t figure it out at the plate. With how tough the conference is right now Jay doesn’t have the luxury to trust him for next year.

Kling gave us his best. But his hitting never developed. He would argue it was because he was in and out of the lineup.

He was probably told CF was an open competition next year and that we were pursuing OF in the portal and could not take the chance to be a part time player next year.
