Well sir, I'm not sure "wholehogsports" or the Fayetteville Flyer has considered the NCAA may upset precedence and put LSU v Arkansas on Friday because of TV and shuffle up the entire order of the bracket.

Obviously Anderson.

I don't feel like it's so obvious. Likely, but worth a debate.

He has been more willing to use Eyanson on shorter rest in relief, and Eyanson had a better outing vs AR, although their numbers were very similar, he gave up no runs.

I wouldn't really factor in Eyanson's performance last night, given the heat and the effect it had on everyone.

How the frick is 5 or 6 days short rest?

It won't be 6 days rest. He threw yesterday and our first game will most likely be Saturday, so 5 days rest maximum.

“Normal” rest is 3 to 5 days.

Normal rest is not 3 to 5 days for college pitchers. Most college pitchers throw on 6 days rest. This would be Eyanson's second week in a row throwing on 5 days rest. I'm not saying he can't do it, but it's also going to affect him.

Teams have played late supers and early games in CWS.

You sound pretty confident. When was the last time this happened? Please share with the class.

Spoiler alert: For at least the past 10 years, Bracket 1 has played both games on day 1 of the CWS and Bracket 2 has played both games on day 2 of the CWS. You’re making shite up.

To whatever extent a team has played “late” in a super and played “early” in the CWS, it would have been due to weather delays in the super regional. LSU (and everyone playing on the right side of the bracket) will play on Saturday. Period.

Also, LSU has had the CWS dates on the official baseball schedule since they were announced - meaning since before we knew which day our super regional would start.

Please tell me where I'm factually wrong?

It’s already been explained to you, but you choose to be willfully ignorant. LSU’s side of the bracket played Sat-Mon Supers with it predetermined that that side would also play Sat-Mon in Omaha. There is no waiting to see the matchups to choose days.

Good point but I think Jay gives Eyanson maximum rest for game 2. It should be Anthony starting. He has been better than Anderson especially the last half of the season.

That was one of the games that Anderson pitched with one less day of rest. Those were all his worst games before WVU, which had its own extenuating circumstances with the hit on his elbow and the heat. And they could really hit the ball.

But Kade will be on a full 6 days if we play Saturday and Eyanson will be on 5. It makes sense to play that straight since Anderson has been better off of a full rest, and to have Eyanson on a full 6 for Game 2. We may need them to pitch on short rest at some point in Omaha, so letting them both get a full 6 day rest going in could help us down the line.

Also, after how pissed Anderson was after the Saturday WVU game, I’m looking for him to show up in his first outing in Omaha. He took that performance personally.

Doesn’t matter. The bracket is set regardless if we had to play on Monday. All Saturday starting super regionals winners play on Saturday at the CWS.

That would be the stupidest move ever...Murray State and Duke play their game 3 today...the winner should not have to play till Saturday. That is unfair because they were the Saturday/Sunday/Monday.

The NCAA doesn't care about fair or unfair. What do you not get? They cars about money and ratings

you’re going to need to provide a better argument for why it might be Friday.

please let us all know if there are any additional reasons why it might be. at this point, i think we would all enjoy watching you logic your way into another reason

Then show us examples of when the Super Regionals that started on Saturday played the first day in Omaha. We'll wait.

You responded to someone else that suggested that they won’t make Duke/Murray play on Friday. That means LSU won’t play on Friday since it’s the same side of the bracket, but oh well you can be proven wrong when they announce it

What a fricking idiot

The answer to the OPs question, in my opinion, is to throw Eyanson out first. Jay has made it clear he’s more comfortable with Eyanson out of the pen than Anderson in an as needed situation, and that sets you up best to get it when you’d need it.

I trust Jay in whatever he chooses, clearly the man maps it out for all scenarios.
