no question the Brian Kelly 2.0 as they called it after the 2016 disaster was very successful.

Continuing to run an outdated offensive system & refusing to change is what got Miles fired.

No. Cam Cameron sucking at play calling got him fired. He started out solid, but got more and more conservative as time went on. They went from resembling a true Prostyle team to resembling West Monroe High. The only play they were missing was the Veer. If the Pro I is out dated then someone needs to fire Kyle Shanahan stat because the 49ers run the ball down people’s throats and use a lot of playaction passes.

Alabama-Arkansas-Ole Miss-Florida will be pivotal games & will be as always
“Grinding it out” games. Have always played the Tigers to the last whistle. It will be fun.

I keep seeing where ND fans say this, but just take look at Kelly’s record as a favorite. It’s like 40-1 in his time there. How can you say he played down to opponents if he almost never lost games to teams he was supposed to beat? You don’t truly deserve that label unless you drop some of those games to lesser opponents

I asked about this. They say it's about every fricking game against scrubs being a one score game when they should be blowouts.

Look, I'm just the spy here.

Miles last 2 years had the most NFL draft picks ever at LSU and 17 of his recruits either started or played significant snaps on the 2019 team which surpassed that record for draft picks. OL, DL and LBs, some of the best in the NFL BTW, were part of these classes. His last 4 recruiting classes ranked 6th, 2nd, 5th and 3rd but the success did not correspond.

Miles’ 2015 and 2016 teams had several impact players, but absolutely 0 depth at key positions. We 4 great LBs and absolutely no one worth a damn behind them. Same story on the OL- no quality depth at all. We also had a DL that paled in comparison to what we had from 2011-13 because we kept coming in second for that level of player on the recruiting trail. One one average QB who didn’t have legitimate NFL talent (we saw he just got cut again, unfortunately), and he was a transfer.

Miles’ last two teams had major holes and lacked depth. They routinely got beaten by physical teams at the LOS from 2014 until he was fired. You are just choosing to follow a narrative based on recruiting rankings and draft picks that doesn’t fit the results on the field.

Kelly is going to definitely bring something that LSU had very little during Myles and coach O, structure. Now the buzz word used frequently in here is alignment but it is basically the same thing. Looking at the staff he has put together and his approach you realize he knows exactly where he wants this team to go. I know he's going to do things that's going to piss us off, but in the end he is going to put together some great teams.

It's not a bad floor, though.

They couldn’t get great CBs, WRs, and interior DLs at Notre Dame. That’s the difference.

It goes beyond that. He did more with less than LSU. He beat LSU twice (we were out coached both times). Kelly is a Saban like, process oriented coach. Preparing and doing your best in all phases of training results in wins (unfortunately, sometimes the other team is just better). Ask Saban about LSU in 2019. Joe Burrow was the reason LSU won that championship, not Orgeron. Joe was the alpha dog that demanded the whole team be better. Get on the train, or get left behind.

Look I am no Orgeron lover but it is time to give the man credit because without him 2019 would not have happened. He inherited some of the staff but he also brought in Joe Brady and talked Steve Ensminger into becoming the OC. Orgeron also was instrumental in recruiting most of the key players on that team.

You can bash him for falling apart after his Divorce and chasing tail but you can’t act like 2019 would have happened without him. It wouldn’t have.

I don't. But you to admit LSU turned into a dumpster fire after 2019, along with Orgeron's life. I like Coach O and wish him the best, but Kelly is a much better coach.

I think Kelly's success comes down to one thing, and that is how he decides to play on offense. If he goes conservative on offense (like he often did at ND), then we will continually be good, but never great. If however, he opens up the offense like he did at Cincinnati, then we will have some great years (and some down years) mixed in with all the good years.

I guess we shall see.

Lol. No. They did fine on dl. They also did fine at wr, but coach Kelly didn't play wr before three years in the system which led to multiple transfers of top recruits.

Corner back was a total failure under Kelly.

The biggest failure is the manufactured QB competitions and the way Kelly would break qbs of throwing picks by limiting where they could throw. The threat of benching led to a lack of decisiveness and a fear of going over the middle.

If this first season of recruiting is any indication, BK will be wildly successful here. That is to say, if he can have this kind of success every offseason, then he will absolutely build a dynasty.
His coaching staffs seem to get the most out of their players. When the players he gets have as high of a floor as LSU is accustomed getting, then he in turn gets the most out of those players potential, LSU will be a problem for any program that aspires to the playoff and national championships.

was clear to everyone that Miles wasn't going to win 11 games without opening up the offense.

Yeah except for all those times he did from 2005-until he was fired.
There wasnt some seismic shift in college football from 2011(13 wins),2012(10wins) and 2015(his last full season and the year he was going to be fired until King stepped in).
Wins and losses got miles fired not some bullshite about not running a wide open offense. Im all for saying his inability to modernize the offense led to losses and thise losses got him fired. BUT, if he keeps the same offense and wins like he did just a few seasons prior he doesnt get fired
