That's exactly what happened.

He didn't give him "time" either time Fraley asked for it, but Jake stepped out both times
Could Fraley have been penalized for this? And why wouldn't an ump give the batter time as requested?

Why should he retire?
He's still producing outstanding teams and is king at Rice.
Until the 7th inning of our final regional game he had a national seed sweating bullets.
On the flipside he hasn't been to a college world series the last 8 seasons now and has been outside of a regional just once the last 7 seasons.
80 is just too damn old, how do you even recruit guys to go there when they know you could literally keel over any second?

even if it wasn't a carefully thought out strategic decision.
I dont think it was. Amador was clearly in a groove and was looking to pitch quickly, but not "quick pitch". He started his wind up before fraley had even got his other foot in the box. It was so quick in fact that the ump didnt even have the ability to call time. Thus, the pitch occurred.

Graham has 2 more yrs on his contract should he choose to continue. All credit to Fraley, as it did mess with Amador's mind, intentional or otherwise. And he was borderline quick pitching.

How many teams haven't been to the college world the last eight years?
Eighty - Soylent Green?

He isn't producing anywhere near outstanding teams.

Yes but the final result is what counts.

Because every other athletic program at Rice makes it to an NCAA postseason tournament. It's an outstanding academic school with strict admission standards that isn't an athletic factory. Your comment is the kind of idiotic statement that a large portion of our fanbase is known to make and why LSU fans have a bad reputation.
I respect Graham and Rice's program maybe more than any other program LSU baseball has played on a regular basis over the years. Rice has beaten LSU more than its fair share, and it's usually a battle even when LSU wins. I hope Graham keeps coaching for a long time.

Um, he's at RICE.
Rice has only one national championship in ALL sports.
Guess who won?

Just 24 of the last like 25 conference championships.

If Graham stays at Rice, there is a better chance of Pierce staying at Tulane.
If Pierce stays at Tulane, there is a better chance of Cannizaro staying at LSU.

Impossible not to respect the guy. His record is untouchable. If he can still do the job I agree let him do it.

80 years old.Damn! It's time for that coach to retire. He's on borrowed time as it is. I just thought I was old. Damn!

Shouldn't it be called a "no pitch" if the batter doesn't have both feet in the box yet?
