Sometimes I feel like I am

Look I see why some might not like him but here are a few reasons why I truly love this kid.

1) he's tough. You saw it last year when he played without being able to feel his leg at times. When the game is on the line, he's not afraid to run for the first and readily takes on any contact to get the yards necessary.

2) he's the exact opposite of the QBs of past. Our QBs the past 10 years (minus a couple) have been guys with all the ability in the world but never developed or lived up to that potential. Danny is a guy that while he has limited ability, he plays every bit up to his potential and exceeds it at times. I know he had a rough game against Bama last year but other than that one, he was always doing the right things.

3) he comes through in the clutch. Again, the Bama game is an anomaly as it's the only game where he wasnt poised and collected. In both the Auburn And Florida games, Danny led our team down the field and put us in position to win the game. Elements out of his control caused us to lose both of those games. For Auburn, time ran out and against the gators, our RB couldn't score from 1yard out. In both games Danny did everything he needed to do for the Tigers to have a chance.

4) he's the QB for the LSU tigers. No matter what, I will always be a fan of the guy we put under center. I may gripe from time to time if our QB plays poorly but in the end, I'll always get behind our guy and believe he can lead our tigers to victory.

I might get downvoted for this thread but I just wanted everyone to know that I am a Danny Etling Fan through and through and hope this kid leads us to a great season! :geaux Tigers:

NO, I like him a lot, but lets face it, he is not an NFL level QB.

I think he makes good decisions and we can win with him as long as the O-line doesnt get him killed.

I like his toughness. We shall see how he holds up against Auburn and road trips to Florida, Alabama, and Tennessee.

Can't help but pull for the guy. He's the only glimpse of a quarterback we've had since Mett.

I agree, his tangibles aren't great, to me it's his intangibles that make me really root for the kid.

I am a fan. How could you not be? He is a tough kid. He works hard. He studies hard. He is a leader.

But he is limited as a QB talent.

I think 98% of the people posting here are a fan of him and want good things to happen.
Yes there are a few tards and people that are negative no matter what.

There are a lot of people who are talking football on a message board. Sometimes those people point out weaknesses or have concerns that they want to discuss here.

No reason to get the panties in a wad is the discussions is not all positive all of the time.

DE is good enough to take us to a 10 win season. I love watching him play.

Let's face it. Only 3-4 college teams have "NFL" type QBs. Out of those 3-4 , maybe 1 will have a decent NFL career and by decent , I mean not out of the league in a year or two.

Your comment was pretty silly.

He's a breath of fresh air compared to what we've had recently. I love that we finally have a fast twitch qb with a short release that feels comfortable scanning the field in the pocket.

He may not have the best arm, but it's better than 90 mph fastballs on every throw with zero touch.

I agree with your sentiments. I don't get all the hate. He's very serviceable and keeps the office balanced.

I think he does everything we need him to do. If we had an elite QB, I doubt he would have shown us much different to date than what Danny has done with the plays given.

Stay strong Danny! WE gonna need that brain of yours this season.

absolutely not. i really like Etling as our QB and think that, if the REST of the team does their job we can and will compete for the west this year.

all of the criticism on here comes from several sources, (imo).....

-the guys that really want one of our other 2 highly rated backups to start

-probably some racist fans. not to overstate this but some African americans are just like some of the white guys I knew when black qb's were just being allowed to play the position

-the LSU fan "normal". this means LSU fans love to discuss their team and QB criticism is right up there with the coach criticism. before Saban won the natty, he was heavily criticized by many fans. I swear, if we had vince Lombardi as coach and joe montana as QB this site would still be full of critical threads.

but this site seldom reflects the views of the majority of fans. most working people don't have the time to visit here often and many are lurking only. i'll bet there are many, many fans like us and they like the kid as our qb also.
