No, you're not. I really like him. His arm strength has greatly improved this last yr. My opinion is the bafk surgery must've really been needed and we're seeing a 100% healthy Danny. Yeah he's under throwing some deep balls, but those WRs are fast lol. Hell of a job so far imo. I honestly think this LSU team is destined for greatness!

I never said any of your points were false, I said they have nothing to do with my point in the OP.
I never said he played lights out in the Auburn game, I said he drove the length of the field on the final drive and gave us a chance at the end to win the game. We didn't win, but we had a chance.
The fact that you need to point out how bad he was the rest of the game instead of arguing the actual point that I made is extremely telling: you're narrative is that Danny sucks and anything that points to the contrary is nothing but sunshine pumping.
Tell me would rather have that last drive against Auburn or would you want your QB to play like Mett against UGA in '13. Sure he threw for damn near 400 yards but when it came down to crunch time Mett couldn't move the ball.
LSU never had the chance to win that game cuz Mett couldn't get us in position regardless of how well he played the rest of the game.
That last point isn't to shite on Mett either, it's to show that putting together last minute drives isn't easy even for really takented QBs with 2 NFL WRs and an NFL RB on the team.
Keep deflecting and pointing out things that Danny failed at that have nothing to do with my point in the OP, it won't change the fact that putting those drives together (AU and UF) when we needed them is an accomplishment.

I like Danny. He's calm, cool, and collected.
But some of those passes Brennan threw Saturday night were humming.

This is from your original post
Elements out of control? How is Danny's play for the entire game, which was terrible, not in his control?
I don't have a narrative. I'm literally listing stats that actually occurred. If those facts don't line up with your view that he's good, that's your problem. Again, facts don't care about your feelings
In a game where our opponent didn't score a single touchdown, I'll take the guy who threw for 372 yards and 3 td's while leading us to 41 offensive points. Most other rational people would too
Your delusion is scary. LSU had a chance to win that game BECAUSE Mett played amazing for the entire game. Similar to how LSU had a chance to win vs. Auburn b/c the defense played amazing despite an inept offense.
We lost both games.

he comes through in the clutch. Again, the Bama game is an anomaly as it's the only game where he wasnt poised and collected. In both the Auburn And Florida games, Danny led our team down the field and put us in position to win the game. Elements out of his control caused us to lose both of those games.

Nope, there's only one guy who doesn't like him.
Oh, forgot to mention...You'll recognize him. After games, practices, and announcements, he's full of ideology and only likes those who are not playing or coaching.

I really like Etling.
and he is just what we need to bring Brennen (or whoever else) along to learn the ropes.

NO, I like him a lot, but lets face it, he is not an NFL level QB.
Excuse me for asking, but which Alabma quarterback won a national championship under Saban was a NFL quality QB? Im waiting on an answer for that one.
Eatling doent have to have NFL quality arm to win a championship for us. Being surrounded by good players with excellent coaching and a little luck is all he needs.

Excellent and well thought out response. Extremely thought provoking. When stats and facts don't line up with your own opinion, just insult the person and dismiss him as a troll. Works every time.

He suffers from the fact that we haven't had good QB play for 80% of this decade. And, unlike other players, he is not elite.
That said, he has been great so far.

Another trend that is rampant on the rant as of late.

I think he makes good decisions and we can win with him as long as the O-line doesnt get him killed.
Name the last NFL level QB to win an NC. Who cares about that?

My response is and has been throughout that we are arguing 2 different points.
You are stating that he played poorly throughout the game and therefore deserves no credit for putting us in position to win at the end.
My point is that regardless of how he played before the final drive, he found a way to put together a drive when it mattered most.
I think that him sucking the first 3.75 quarters makes that last drive even more impressive. He had to do it with literally no momentum going for him.
And yes we lost that game because of CLM not because of Danny Etling. Keep in mind that it was only the second time Danny started for LSU and his first road game and that he couldn't feel his leg. With all those excuses lined up for him to just fold, he picked himself up by his bootstraps and led the team down the field. Not to mention, he made the winning pass, it just happened to be 1 second too late. I put that second on CLM not on Danny.
Look we obviously will never agree on this so we'll have to agree to disagree. We both think different things hold weight when arguing this point. I'm always happy at the end of a debate if neither party resulted to name calling and stuck to actual points.

Yet to be proven but he definitely has a good shot.
Winston is the sure fire answer.
