Everyone talks about how great AB is but I went to the Arkansas series and i don't know but from the looks on TV. Founders Park looks so much better.

Do they? Definitely not on this board.

Just call it the way it really was. Skip was a great coach. The GOAT. But, as an AD, he was cheap as hell. Skip went cheap. It is what it is.

We had multiple football projects happening around the same time. Didn’t we also build the softball stadium within a few years of the new Box?

Could the Box been designed better- yes. But would you be happy if it only seated 7 or 8k? It wasn’t going to be both big and super nice with all we were spending on other things at the time.

That’s fine. But it still needs to be updated. What they did with the bullpens is a cheap, hilarious joke.

Short of building a fine stadium whatever they do is not going to make it cool at the end of the season,

Well no shite. I'm not asking them to make it "cool". There's certainly things they can do to make it not as miserable.

I suggest that if the heat bothers you that much, stay home and watch it on tv because they aren’t going to air condition he Box.

I'm not sure why some of y'all are so against make the Box more comfortable/a more enjoyable experience for the average fan.

No doubt he had a smaller budget.

I’m not against making things nicer, but some of you guys act if you expect a game should be like going to a movie.

It is great from the atmosphere the fans bring alone. Everything else about Alex box is trash.
Alex Box is SO stereotypical Louisiana style MEDIOCRE. Mediocrity Acceptance at its finest.

Thanks to Bertman for "Cheaping Out" on the new Alex Box, (Just like he did with Nick Saban) and to McWoodward for allowing the defenciencies to continue year after year..

The high schoolish bench seats down the lines and in the outfield, the Wal-Mart tarp "Batters Eye" and how about the awesome new LSUAD/Louisiana Style Mediocrity "Chain link fence and plastic Wrap" bullpens.

Yes, the Atmosphere/Fans inside makes it special, but the facility is not representative of the programs stature. Overall, behind MSU, USC and Arkansas, with several other SEC schools having smaller but much nicer Parks.......

Dude, I literally am asking for chairbacks instead of cheap, reused, metal bleachers. If that's a crazy ask, then so be it. But multiple other schools have found a way to do it.

That’s because most of them have been renovated recently.

Like the Box this past offseason?

Not really. For example Founders has 6,000 permanent seats. They don’t have 10 or 12 thousand chairback seats.

Yeah, dirt is always better than seats.

Seriously why do people insist on thinking a berm is a good thing?

all chairback

The Box desperately needs these.

Dudy Noble Field and Baum Walker both have majority chairbacks. Dudy Noble's attendance record is 16,423. Baum Walker's attendance record is 13,472. Alex Box attendance record is 13,376.

At least SC has real seats instead of bleachers, empty though they may be.

I can see why some people would like it and some wouldn't. On one hand, there are people that would love to be able to bring in lawn chairs, grill, coolers, etc. On the other hand, there are people that don't want to deal with that.

Many SEC ballparks are better than the Box in my opinion. Dudy Noble is at the top of my list to visit soon.

Well hey! At least LSU made the new Box resemble the old one! Because “tradition”!!!

Seriously though, the new AB is trashy compared to many other parks in the SEC. So many things could be done differently. But because LSU is cheap as hell, it’ll stay as is.

That was a fairly small project. I’m talking about places like USC, Auburn and UT doing complete upgrades or facelifts on their entire stadium, or at least large sections of them. The Box likely isn’t getting any kind of large-scale upgrade for a few more seasons, especially with rev sharing just about to start.

Some of you need to start living in reality unless you’re a fat cat donor ready to cough up $10 million to fund the kinds of things being talked about.

Do you want cute or do you want all those fans in the stadium?

I hope you don’t believe the attendance numbers. There are 6-8 games that LSU will actually hit full capacity. I want functional and amenities that accommodate everyone.

I’m not a huge fan of a berm, but it looks cooler than a shitload of bleachers

We are on the same page with chairback seating. It seems so affordable and would enhance the experience for everyone.
