I watch more football/baseball then I do basketball
I don't even watch the basketball tournament that much anymore, except for maybe the final game

Go look at Houston’s roster the last 4 years bud. On their website. It lists hometowns. They have 3 guys from Louisiana, but one spent his entire HS career in Texas so we’re talking about 2 guys who both have career averages under 8 points.
Who are these unheralded Louisiana players that we have an abundance of over the last 4-5 years?

but Skip pulled a lot of fan attention away from basketball.
which unfortunately has led to a weird subset of people that seem to think basketball is a threat to baseball

LJ Cryer is from New Orleans and has been their leading scorer for 2 years. I’m not going to waste time continuing to correct you but you’re wrong.

The same LJ Cryer who grew up in Katy, TX and spent his entire HS career in Katy, TX?
Who else ya got?

You don’t even know what you’re saying and you dismiss every incorrect statement that’s pointed out so again what’s the point in conversing with a disingenuous person?

Okie dokie. Get back to me when you have those unheralded Louisiana players tearing it up everywhere that we should be recruiting. And for the sake of accuracy, let’s not include kids who never played a second of high school basketball in the state of Louisiana.

Nice straw man but not surprising coming from you. Always fun to talk hoops with a total ignoramus.

I also think the Dale Brown contingent was not happy about the WW success.
Dale definitely had a falling out with WW but he had one with Trent too and it was rocky with Brady and he from jump. The only coach he did not have a falling out with was CJJ who he and his boys had everything to do with getting the gig.

A&M has had a few. Dexter Dennis and Tyrece Radford were both from BR and Solomon Washington is from NOLA. I wouldn’t say building an entire team with these guys is the way to do it but there definitely guys like the 3 I just mentioned as well as Corey Chest who are great pieces to have on a team.

There are several factors playing into less interest in men's basketball. Inconsistency has brought on complacency. The period from Brown to Wade is bookended by NCAA violations. Die-hard basketball fans are still passionate, although pessimistic toward possible future success. CMM might have stepped into an impossible situation considering the timing of NIL & the transfer portal, the unprecedented strength of the SEC in basketball and the recent success of LSU in others sports. I thought CMM had 4 years to "sink or swim". I'm not sure about that now. 4 SEC wins looks like a ceiling now. LSU needs to take a huge swing at a can't miss coach (ala Mulkey) for his successor. As far as talent, facilities really isn't that important today. A new arena would be great, but recruits today are looking for PT & NIL $$$. The LSU Brand is at an all time high, the right coach, possibly with the help of a few famous Alum (SHAQ) and a competitive NIL program, should be able to recruit at a high level. LSU comes before any coach. I was pro-Wade. I am pro-McMahon. And if/when there is a change, I will be behind that coach too.

I can hear the Rant now complaining about no offense or boring basketball. Behind the times, etc.

He wrote the check while he the coach at LSU AND under investigation. Check your facts.

We it can’t be Brady ball but I don’t think any coach in the country runs offense that way anymore.

Well Houston has a massive donor that just bought them 4 top 20 players including one from Newman in NOLA
LSU doesn’t have the financial backing from donors for NIL and the PMAC is a historical site

That’s fine but they’ve been winning long before this incoming class with guys who weren’t highly ranked recruits. They’re successful because of the way they play.

Brown and his cronies effectively undermined Brady and wrecked the program.

The one year rule has killed college basketball. Its not worth investing in year after year emotionally or financially because of the short term nature of it all. Tv ratings, which is a pretty good indicator of intrest are all down across the board. Its just not a entertaining product anymore.
Yet, it's the second most entertaining college sport. Financially and fundamentally.

Shaq stopped playing many years ago. Basketball hasn’t been relevant since then.
