Canada was a prick and diificult to work with for the entire staff.

It also didn't help that his wife was going around Baton Rouge making fun of Orgeron, particulary the way he spoke, on a regular basis.
There are several factors playing into less interest in men's basketball. Inconsistency has brought on complacency. The period from Brown to Wade is bookended by NCAA violations. Die-hard basketball fans are still passionate, although pessimistic toward possible future success. CMM might have stepped into an impossible situation considering the timing of NIL & the transfer portal, the unprecedented strength of the SEC in basketball and the recent success of LSU in others sports. I thought CMM had 4 years to "sink or swim". I'm not sure about that now. 4 SEC wins looks like a ceiling now. LSU needs to take a huge swing at a can't miss coach (ala Mulkey) for his successor. As far as talent, facilities really isn't that important today. A new arena would be great, but recruits today are looking for PT & NIL $$$. The LSU Brand is at an all time high, the right coach, possibly with the help of a few famous Alum (SHAQ) and a competitive NIL program, should be able to recruit at a high level. LSU comes before any coach. I was pro-Wade. I am pro-McMahon. And if/when there is a change, I will be behind that coach too.

This, along with settling for FG (attempts). But the 1st pick completely changed the game. And Nuss continued to shite his pants in tbe 2nd half.
This (batter leaving box) is a basic rule in baseball. I wasn't sure how the rule applies in the current ncaa rulebook, but I was surprised that during the long delay not one of these "baseball guys" announcing even mentioned it.

There's something else to consider. The home plate ump called him out. After the huddle, either he changed his mind or another ump basically over ruled him.

It will be interesting to see if the SEC office issues a statement.

SEC officiating/umpiring @ its finest! It's a real embarrassment to the conference. ??
Pete Maravich was 29 hours short of his bachelors degree in Business Administration when he originally left LSU.

https://books.google.com/books?id=_Xkzg6ck590C&dq=Pete+Maravich+%2B+college+degree&printsec=frontcover&source=in&hl=en&ei=k4hxS7v6M82Ptgf01qH0CQ&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=11&ved=0CCsQ6AEwCg#v=onepage&q=Pete%20Maravich%20%2B%20college%20degree&f=false

Buddy Roemer signed legislation to name the PMAC in 1988. I'm pretty sure I read that he completed his degree after retiring from the NBA.
LSU's policy for retiring jerseys is that a player must first be in the LSU Hall of Fame & to be in the Hall of Fame a player must first graduate. When SHAQ came back and graduated, the following day he was inducted into the LSU Hall of Fame & his jersey was retired. Those at the game may remember his renaming LSU to Love Shaq University. Thus Chris Jackson, Brandon Bass, Big Baby or any other recent LSU great player will never get their jersey retired until they get their degree. The next logical player is actually going to be Tasmin. He will graduate. He is going to be in the top 2 or 3 in both rebounds and points. He has 2 SEC Championships and a final four. He's very similar to Rudy in that he has been very steady and consistant if never really outstanding (at least in the eyes of a lot of Tiger fans). And he's been a great representative for LSU. But he will likely have to wait a while like Rudy.
Yes, there are plenty of Tigers with better careers. Jim Taylor and Y.A. Tittle were All-Americans and Hall of Famers. Tittle was born in Texas. Taylor was born in Baton Rouge. I believe the original point of this post is that Henderson and Gay are Louisiana natives who have had great success at the college level and the pro level in their home state of Louisiana (playing for LSU & the Saints). They both have a chance to add Super Bowl Rings to go with their National Championship rings. And both will have been accomplished playing in the state of Louisiana.

Although not Tigers, Terry Bradshaw and Doug Williams played college football in their home state of Louisiana and both are Super Bowl MVPs. But neither played for LSU, nor the Saints.

It's unlikely but wouldn't it be great if Henderson or Gay had an outstanding game and was named MVP. There have been unlikely MVPs in the past. Brees will spread the ball around quite a bit so Henderson will likely have a good game, just not outstanding. But a Randall Gay pick six to win the game would be pretty awesome.

And Devery has an ESPY!!! Man was he nervous accepting that award on behalf of LSU.

Devery had 3 or 4 other offers from other teams after last season. He chose to play for less and stay with Saints (4 yr contract extension I believe). That was a very good move on his part. Devery was a very important player on the 2003 team and he is a key part to the Saints offense. And he has done much better than most people expected. It goes to show what staying humble and hard work will do.

Randall Gay was more of a situation guy in college as he is in the pros. But he has had a very nice career. He is much more effective as a nickle back. How he plays against the Colts will very important in the outcome for the Saints.

This really has to be nice for the older, great LSU/Saints players like Dalton Hilliard and Eric Martin who never got to play for a team of this caliber for the Saints.
He made a nice pass in the paint to Storm today. Maybe he got the basketball skills and the good eye sight that his twin did not. If not, Dwayne Bowe can give him the name of a good eye doctor.

Two positives in todays loss/robbery

1. LSU's benched played very well. Chris Bass played very good in his minutes. Storm Warren was his usual aggressive self and he made a few free throws. The future is bright for both of these freshmen. Martin made a couple of shots. We are going to need him next week. And Q. Thornton was better than CJ as usual which isn't saying much.
2. LSU's seeding was more or less set unless they would have won tomorrow too. This gives them an extra day of much needed rest. It will all depend on matchups next week. I like our chances to win a couple of games.

Chris Johnson

He should really be on the bench. Although he played decent against Kentucky, he has really been bad all season. The coaches putting him on the 1st team All Defensive team is hard to figure. He can't guard in the post and he can't guard on the peremiter. I would rather see Q. Thornton and Storm getting the bulk of the minutes. Storm will be a solid player next season. He just needs to work on his free throw shooting.

re: The officiating.....

Posted by Tigereye30 on 3/14/09 at 2:18 pm to
That was by far the worst officiated game of the year. SEC officiating has been really bad for about 10 years. They completely affected the outcome of the game today. Varnado gets away with dipping his shoulder and hooking with his free arm and the minute an LSU player bodies up a whistle a blown. I can't blame any LSU loss this season on the officials but they definitely controlled the outcome today.

All of these people predicting one and done are ridiculous. The officiating will get much better in the NCAA's. It just all depends on matchups for LSU.
Bo Spencer comes out of his mini slump and shoots lights out and LSU wins a close one in Stark Vegas.

The LSU-LMU (Feb 3, 1990) game was amazing. It was like watching a tennis match, back and forth. LMU would advance the ball up court without any dribbling. It was something to see. LMU had 4 players in double figures. Gathers had 48, Bo Kimble had 32, Jeff Fryer had 28 & Terrell Lowery had 20. LSU had 7 players in double figures. Chris Jackson had 34, Vernel Singleton had 22, Stanley Roberts had 21, SHAQ had 20, Wayne Simms had 19, Maurice Williamson had 18 & Randy Duvall had 12. Ironically, LSU was only 4-14 from the 3 point line. Sadly, Hank Gathers passed away a few months later.

The stats for this game are amazing.

LSU - LMU box score
First off, Marcus was not trying to "get his 30" or hogging the ball on that play. When I first watched the play I thought he should have made the pass but after watching the replay, Marcus would have had to make the pass right as he got the ball and I don't think he saw Chris Johnson that soon. Chris should have darted down the court, but he did not do that. He sort of lagged back waiting for a pass I assume. After one dribble, Marcus had basically caught him at mid court. There was no point in a guard almost handing the ball to a big man at mid court on a break. Chris did sprint down court though and filled the lane but any sort of alley oop or fancy pass would not have been high percentage. LSU got 2 foul shots and got the 2 points anyway. LSU got a great victory and Marcus and Chris were the main reasons why. Marcus has been playing great for 3 weeks now. And Chris hasn't played that well in almost a year.

GEAUX TIGERS !!!
Lucern, Switzerland, September 2002 (& yes, I planned my trip on a bye week). I was walking near Lake Lucern in Switzerland one morning wearing my purple LSU anorak. Two old ladies with German acients coming the opposite way stopped and in unison gave a little fist pump and said Geaux Tigers! It was pretty cool.

I think the overall SEC RPI will increase a bit over the course of the conference schedule. The top 4 SEC teams should be locks for the NCAA tournament. That is looking like 3 east teams and 1 west team right now. A 5th team getting a bid depends largely on how a lot of other conference races play out.

I think if LSU wins 24 games, they are a lock. Whether that means going 8-5 in the remaining SEC games, loosing to Xavier & winning 2 SEC tournament games or some other combination, that should be enough. 23 wins and they are on the bubble, even if they win the west unless they get a couple of quality wins along the way (Xavier & Kentucky). 22 wins or less and they need a lot of help.

As it has already been mentioned, how a team is playing down the stretch can be a deciding factor. As well as the Tigers have looked in the past week, let's hope they haven't peaked too early. One thing the Tigers do have is experience and Tasmin is emerging as a team leader. And Johnson demands that they play hard each and every game. I don't suspect there will be much of a drop of, if any, over the remaining games.

Baring injuries, anything less than 10-6 in the SEC would be a disappointment IMO. It's still early in the season but this time next week we will have a much better prospective of how good this team really is. Hopefully we are discussing a 16-3 LSU team sitting in 1st place in the west.

no, with 1 more loss, Cotton Bowl takes an 8-4 LSU team like it did in 2002. We would probably play a 10-2 Big 12 team (just like 2002).
