Sorted by rating:
2023 - Jayden Daniels - 95.7 (Year 2)
2019 - Joe Burrow - 94.9 (Year 2)
2013 - Zach Mettenberger - 86.8 (Year 2)
2006 - JaMarcus Russell - 82.1 (Year 2)
2017 - Danny Etling - 80.8 (Year 2)
2024 - Garrett Nussmeier - 79.0 (Year 1)
2018 - Joe Burrow - 78.4 (Year 1)
2022 - Jayden Daniels - 77.5 (Year 1)
2016 - Danny Etling - 74.7 (Year 1)
Recency bias tells me Nuss is due for a 97 in 2025

Do you see the 95 next to his name? Burrow and JD5 started to turn around before their last year begun. Nuss hasn't yet.
Burrow turned it around in the bowl game versus UCF.
Daniels turned it around the second game in his second year at LSU versus Grambling
I think when we look back a year or so from now we will say Nuss turned it around after coming back from injury versus Oklahoma.

Anything less than Heisman sucks?
Lol. I hope Nuss kills it next year, but the ability for this type of thing to happen year after year and you all come on here and spin it into a positive is simply amazing.
JD5 had flashes of greatness in 2022. Burrow same in 2018 esp after hit in UCF game. Nuss hasn't done that yet.
SideTigers sarcastic post comes premature. Just because two Heisman winners did it doesn't mean he's in line to. His play is more similar to Brennans first year or J Lee's first year honestly.
How did they progress?
Again I'm not bashing him. I'd love to see him kill it. I'm bashing the non stop spinning by some on this board.

His adjusted QBR as posted in the OP is 35 points better than 08 Lee. The gap between Nussmeier Y1 and Burrow/Daniels Y2 is half as big as the gap between Nussmeier Y1 and Lee Y1. What an asinine take.

You seem to find the dark cloud in every silver lining.

My takeaways:
-I’d still take Lee over Harris and Jennings.
-I thought Flynn would be higher, but we weren’t necessarily a huge passing team.
-2017 Etling is surprising
-I like 2006 Jamarcus more than 2013 Mett.

Standard QB Passer Rating 2011:
Lee 152.0
Jefferson 138.7
Not bad. The SEC average that year was 147.3 and Lee would've led the conference had he qualified. Jefferson would've been 17th. Together, we were 4th in the SEC in yards passing.
Compare that to Jaden Daniels in 2023 who had the highest passing efficiency rating in NCAA history at 208. Burrow in 2019 is 4th overall at 202. Both of course led that nation those years. Mett was 4th in the country in 2013 with a rating of 171.4
What Daniels did is absolutely shocking, as this measures passing only. Oh, and he rushed for a 1100 yards also while leading ALL players in rushing yards per attempt at 8.4 Its the equivalent of a player like Nick Chubb leading the NCAA in passing. The closest QB to Daniels stats wise was Johnny Manziel who ran for 7.0 YPC in 2012 but had a passing rating of only 155.

Does Mauck have enough passes to qualify for QBR in 02? Would like to see his 02 vs 03. And where his 03 stacks up against everyone else.

I’m immensely proud of JL’s growth through his senior season. It took a lot of heart and history will look back at him fondly
But frick was that Georgia game a nightmare
hot as balls too

After Burrow and JD, I would take Matt Flynn over everybody else, especially in big games.

What are you talking about? Did we see Nuss' year two rating? Sorry, left my crystal ball somewhere else.

So you're saying Nuss is so much better than Burrow or JD that he didn't even have to improve over the season to be better than they were? Wow, now I am really excited!

Burrow and Daniels both had exceptional, 1st round level NFL talent at WR in their second year. (Technically they were there in year 1 too)
Who is Nuss throwing to next year that can dominate DBs on routes, get separation, and win 50/50 balls?
eta: good work op putting this together

What’s interesting is Jefferson was the only QB that didn’t dramatically improve his second year
umm....BH got benched after about 3 games in 2016. I wouldn't call that improving off of a poor first year.

Nuss had an 82 against Vandy and almost a 91 against Oklahoma. Both over his average. He improved at the end of the season. We will see if that continues into next year. I think it does and I think we are a better team next year.
