This makes zero sense. That big of a contract and no interview? I have a hard time believing this.

Because it's not true.

Man how many of us would like to get a job with no interview, and then be told a year later here is $4 million you can't do this job? WOW!

Thus far, the ONLY quality Woodward has shown is his ability to vastly overpay coaches relative to their market value.

He didn't just learn how to do that. He was doing that at A&M as well.

He doesn't seem to be an effective steward of capital. His MO seems to be that the boosters will always give more, so who cares how it's spent. That's not sustainable.

But when one measure of success is fund raising, it incentivizes this kind of bullshite.

So are we still saying that we should trust O because he knows what he's doing?

I remember hearing an interview with I think was the radio guy for Youngstown St and good friends with Bo that he turned down LSU 3 times before finally accepting. Maybe someone else remembers that interview as well.

Offering a $2.3 million contract to someone who hasn't been a DC in 13 years...and without interviewing.

Why in the ever living f*ck would you have give ANY coach who no one else is even interested in a f*cking multimillion buyout???

If mean, if you want to hire him to give him a chance, that's fine. Give him an incentive laden contract with ZERO f*cking buyout. If it doesn't work out, he's gone.

But, these f*cking MORONS gave this unwanted and unpursued FAILURE MILLIONS of f*cking dollars for absolutely no f*cking reason.

Does anyone think he would have turned down a $1 million with the potential to make $2.3 if his defense didn't suck when he was making $400,000 at Youngstown State??? Sh!t, the incompetent f*ck went 6-6 (2-6 in the f*cking Missouri Valley Conference) (2019), 4-7 (3-5 in conference) (2018), and 6-5 (4-4 in conference) (2017) during his last three years at Youngstown State. So, they were probably looking to fire him anyway.

Whoever was responsible for putting this contract together should personally pay back Pelini's buyout or be fired IMMEDIATELY.

This is preposterous. There is no way I believe this for a second and unless Jordy clarifies or explains how he knows this occurred with facts, I’ll never believe a word he says again. Ridiculous.

They figured out alot Of things on the job about pelini they didnt like, some things That they probably would've figured out if they wouldve talked to him for an amount of time Before bringing him in”

This shouldnt surprise me, but....what the actual frick

if that is even REMOTELY true, then everyone involved in that incompetence should be fired. And I don't say that lightly. It was a $7+ million investment.

At least at A&M there was a very clear target (Fisher) who had significant market demand. Fisher had a ton of leverage and A&M needed to swing big pull off that kind of "heist" from FSU to A&M. I can understand that line of thinking.

It's more difficult to understand overpaying a guy with little market demand just because you paid the last guy that amount. A guy with tremendous demand.

If LSU would have paid Freeman $2.0+ million it probably would have been understandable. Clearly the guy had multiple big players bidding for his services. That was the market value of getting Freeman (regardless of what kind of success you think he will or won't have)

I can't tell you what is going on in the current DC search, but it sounds like their is some degree of disagreement as to who gets to make the ultimate call and their may be some who want boxes checked other than strictly merit. Freeman was probably the first choice because he check BOTH the merit and demographic boxes. Now that he is out, there may be some in fighting. O wants someone he knows and who is "loyal". Boosters and/or AD wants a "name" to appease those who panned the Pelini hire. Might be a mess

Agreed. And the fact that this thread is still going further confirms how dumb our fans are.

You can think what your want about Orgeron, as much of his criticism is deserved. But there is no way a state university would hire someone in that capacity, with that kind of money and buyout, without an interview.

It's silly to even think about, and people actually believe it. Outrageous.

I'm assuming that Jordy got some snippet of information, and molded it into a fully-formed, yet false story.

Deduct Pelini's buyout from Orgeron's and Woodward's paychecks!!

If this is true, it is the one of the most stupid things I've heard of in a hiring strategy.

Sounds like it may be some idiotic way to cover their asses instead of a real thing.
