Didn’t CJ hit a ridiculous number of free throws in a row at practice in high school. They had to shoot till they missed at end of practice and heard story he hit like 100 + in a row before missing

I feel bad for those who missed out on the LSU Chris Jackson experience.

No doubt about it. I'm happy that I got to witness those stacked teams and camp out at the PMAC for student tickets!

The "stacked team" was his sophomore season.

The true Chris Jackson experience was his freshman year, when the team was Chris, Ricky Blanton, Vernell Singleton, and some dudes who may not have started on good high school teams.
Which didn't matter, cuz CJ was gonna smoke you.

Won't be believed here but I exceeded 150 consecutive several times at practice in hs. Won some shooting competitions. For someone like Chris Jackson I would expect he could have well exceeded that if he seriously intended to.

The world record stands at 5,221 (Ted St. Martin, 1996).

At one time (2004) the record for most free throws made in one hour (1,265) was held by LSU's own Eddie Palubinskas.

Chris still holds the high school record of 283 consecutive free throws made.

Greatest LSU basketball player I ever saw in my time. I was too young to remember Pistol Pete but then, Chris Jackson, was by far the best in college.

I went to high school with him, they would start every practice and you had to hit 10 in a row before Coach Jenkins would allow you to join the rest of the team. You would shoot until you missed, guys would earn special t shirts for hitting 25, 50 and so on. They also had a board in the gym that would show every player that had hit 25 or more and listed how many. They day CJ hit the 283 Coach stopped practice and just had the team watch him, once he finally missed they all went home. The team FT shooting percentage was insane, one of the key factors in Jenkins winning 7 State titles in 28 years and an overall record of 866-180.

Crazy that McMahon's greatest accomplishment as LSU's head coach is hitting 45 straight free throws in practice.

Truly. Amazing to see how many people watch and seem to care about basketball yet have never played. 45/45 at practice is nothing special.

That's why I always push back on the "we just aren't a basketball school" BS. The ONLY reason the fan support hasn't been rabid is because the program hasn't been consistent for nearly 40 years now. LSU fans will support a good basketball program. You and I have seen it happen. The PMAC used to be a much tougher ticket than any LSU football game.
