Yeah it would have dropped our RPI 4 or so spots to lose this game. Instead, we stayed put with all the other movement today.

Do y’all not understand it’s possible for our RPI to move without even playing?

This is a make fun of A&M thread, not a mathlete thread.

It was 9 earlier today

It was also 10 earlier today. It’s constantly fluctuating with so many games being played right now.

This is why I wanted Auburn. I assume that would have been better.

Top 8 regardless

I think so. Hopefully Clemson doesn’t keep winning.

Im just not sure how Auburn's RPI has been so high consistently without dropping at all when they lose. They're 17-14 in the SEC including the SEC tournament. What did they do in out of conference play that has given them such a push in the RPI? They beat Oregon state, Baylor, and Georgia Tech twice. They beat Vanderbilt, they swept LSU. They were swept by Georgia. They were swept by Texas. Im just not seeing the top 3/4 RPI with a 38-18 record.

How in the world have Georgia/Auburn/Vanderbilt just been sitting in the top 3 or 4 range for weeks?

Why are they even in the SEC?

Because the infidels in B'ham sacrificed our SEC honor for $$$.

They have the advantage of teams like Troy, Georgia Tech, W Kentucky, Louisville, and Clemson in close geographical proximity to play midweek. They also played Q3 and Q4 teams with pretty W-L records, which helps a lot when opponent record is 50% of the formula. Auburn had Wright State who is only #103 in the RPI, but 36-19. Holy Cross is 31-23 at #132.

We actually got no help today in other games. There were quite a few that could have given us a small bump in RPI and I believe every one of them went the wrong way. North Alabama, Xavier, Omaha, UNO, ULL...all lost

That’s why I believe these tournaments should not matter for seeding except for the winners getting in from the smaller conferences. There are typically very few surprises and easily adjustable by a committee.

If you had looked we had actually dropped to 10 with all the other conference games going on. We actually went up to 9
