How about just going over .500 in the SEC? I guess we're too spoiled to want that at one of the most storied and supported programs in the country.
thats too much man, we just won the title. . How about just win 13/14 sec games. Pitching has single handedly handcuffed this whole team all season. It all starts with pitching. Tbh i see a good team, we all do but we need better control/execution overall from our weekend guys.

It sure is, but when Texas, Arky, A&M, Tennessee and now UGA are sitting in the top 16 year after year we should never be in the position we’re in.

Again, I’m not at all bitching that we should win it every year or even be in Omaha every year, because all of those teams would trade national seeds for championships in a heart beat.

What most rational fans are rightfully upset about is that a “down year” should equate to not hosting a regional. But that doesn’t mean JJ is now on the verge of losing the fan base like some jackasses suggest.

Multitudes of butt hurt mediocrity accepting Luzianner Trash in this thread. (All the "It's Ok" weak asses on here)

The "Collective Consciousness" of all the non-competitive losers on this board, in the LSU fan base and in the Mediocre State of Louisiana have finally infused its negativity into the major LSU athletic programs.

Truly, now Losing State University............

Screw off man. It’s definitely not spoiled to expect a baseball program the caliber of LSU to at least make the postseason every year. I mean damn LSU has the second most titles in baseball yet teams like FSU, Arkansas and Texas can still be consistently good enough to at least make the tournament every year. At least making a regional is not too much to ask of this program. LSU should never be this bad in baseball. An Arkansas program that has no titles is never this bad.

I agree.
Suffering through this season but certainly no more than Jay and the team But after.a terrible football season, miserable men's bb, less than celebratory women's bball, I think most of us were thinking that baseball would get us in a good mood again.
Glad that Jay is the kind of guy who steps up and takes the blame and says "I will fix it". I can only imagine who PM would be blaming if he was coaching this team. I wouldn't be able to watch that presser, as I couldn't watch many of them his final year.
Trust Jay to get this right for next year.

We expect to make a regional every season, and that is beyond fair.

People need to learn to appreciate the suck. By no means should it be acceptable long term. We should have standards. That’s what makes a program great. You want a coach who battles through adversity, learns, and adjust. But, melting down over an off season, after a championship is insane. Otherwise you’re no better than a bama fan. And, sadly, that’s how most of you are acting.

Lack of development from returning pitchers was more detrimental to this team than the position guys he took in the portal.

Are you talking about the Friday and Saturday night starters who are out for the season or their replacements who weren’t good enough to win those positions outright??

Not being facetious. I’m just seeing a team and coach who seem to have figured out the lineup and hitting their stride at the plate, only for the average pitching staff to have their legs cut out from under them. It’s hard enough to win consistently in the SEC with a better than average pitching staff. Make that a below average pitching staff and you get what we see.

Mainly Schmidt, Evans, Guidry, and Williams. Evans had an 6.65 ERA in SEC games prior to his injury. Walks and wild pitches have killed them.

Powerhouse?
LSU was 9th in the SEC on portal class spending.
The administration refused to address the stadium issue and at least 6 programs in the conference have better facilities.
He lost his Friday and Saturday night starters one for almost the entire portion of SEC season.
You would think they win 4 games combined between them of all the games they missed or got hurt. That would have put them at 1-2 more conference wins to be in. Going 5 innings and using Cowan, the lefty, Paez and Sheerin (although he has struggled lately) is different than knowing you have to start them or rely for long stretches.
Pitching is EVERYTHING. It is the only position on the field that can control the game by itself essentially.
Then you lost your team leader and leading hitter in Brown who will probably be
a second round pick.

I think Jay is a good coach and I'm not calling for him to be fired and I don't think I've read anywhere here where anyone else is.

Not winning them all is one thing. But not even being good enough to make a 64 team playoff and looking really bad doing it - reasonable criticism is fair game here.

Then Jay and Verge best start fundraising to address the shortfall on NIL and facilities.

I don’t see LK and WW have any problem beating out top schools for recruits right now, and it should be easier in baseball.

There is no excuse for where this program has fallen and needs to be turned around fast.

So, exactly where should people bitch and moan if not here?

Or, are you suggesting that after a season of epic and monumentous disappointment, people should not bitch and moan?

Even the most storied baseball team in history, the Yankees, go through hard times. From 2013 to 2016, they were barely above .500. They haven't won a WS since 2009.

All teams have a bad year or even a few in a row that are subpar.

No one was expecting to breeze to another natty.

We were expecting to be in the conversation. We weren’t expecting to be 2nd to last in the conference.

Think about that. We aren’t even as good as 64 other teams with the top recruiting class and supposedly top notch portal talent.

THAT^^ I can bitch about. It’s not about being entitled. It’s about a coach making damn good money not performing. It’s too much of drop just to say “oh well, next year” and not bitch about it.

I'm not talking about Jay. I'm talking about the mindset of many on this board who believe he is above reproach. He's the HC of LSU baseball. He is not above reproach. He is held to the same standard every year.

Yet his best new players are freshmen. They have been here. Look at how much better Serna, Braun, Ruckert, and Patrick have been now that they have expirieince.

His problem was not just misses in the portal, it was staying with those guys and trying to force it instead of rolling with the talented freshmen and Pearson. He owed the transfers nothing if they couldn't hack it.
