Kelly just won his 25th game at LSU, it took him 33 games to do that. That got me thinking who would be the fastest to 25 and what were the records of other coaches at their 25th win at LSU. Here is what I found.

Les Miles took 29 games to win 25. He was 25-4

Bernie Moore took 30 games to win 25. He was 25-4-1

Brian Kelly took 33 games to win 25. He was 25-8

Charles McClendon took 34 games to win 25. He was 25-7-2

Bill Arnsparger took 34 games to win 25. He was 25-7-2

Nick Saban took 34 games to win 25. He was 25-9

Ed Orgeron took 34 games to win 25. He was 25-9

Gerry DiNardo took 35 games to win 25. He was 25-9-1

Mike Archer took 39 games to win 25. He was 25-13-1

Paul Dietzel took 44 games to win 25. He was 25-17-2

Gaynell Tinsley took 53 games to win 25. He was 25-25-3

And there you are, the 11 coaches at LSU who have won 25 or more games.

Great work mdomingue! This is why I come to the rant. Kelly looks pretty good in that list. Those first few years with Miles were amazing!

If you have dumbass friends (like we all do) that don’t know that BK is one of CFB’s best coaches, please work to get them in line and educate them.

I’m absolutely amazed that we have a small percentage of fans that genuinely don’t realize what we have here.

Les came after Saban so I can see him being the fastest.

Considering what the program looked like when Les took over compared to when Kelly took over, that says a lot about BK that it only took him one more game.

I’m assuming there is sarcasm here? He did specify “25 wins”.

Was coming to post about ole Hudson Hallman.

He is still stuck on 16 wins. And it took 44 games for him to get there.

Curley was 16-28 at LSU so extrapolating from that I would say it would have taken him 69 games to reach 25, just over two more seasons of abject misery.

Both took over in tough situations, but Saban’s was definitely tougher. LSU didn’t have the rep, recruiting profile, or the facilities that it does now when he took the job. He had to build all of that up.

It’s still interesting how quickly both have gotten things turned back in the right direction.

Bull fricking shite.!

Saban's was MUCH easier.

He inherited a SHITTON of talent from Dinardo. Kelly inherited crap for talent from Orgeron.

Rep, recruiting profile, and facilities help you recruit to win in the future, but they are not really going to matter in winning the first 25 games.

I couldn’t have lived through that. He made me suffer enough. Oof.
