1 through 6 combine for 7.

LSU has been the #1 program in college baseball for 30 years now - by far the best combo of history, recent success, facilities, fan support, investment, talent, national recognition since the mid 90s. But Aaron Fitt says Louisville’s 0 titles, 4-10 Omaha record and 2,052 fans a game is better.

Take everything D1 says with a grain of salt.

Vandy being their number one after the rule changes gave me a hearty chuckle

Pretty sure those rankings were from a few years ago.

This obviously can’t be based on criteria of success. That would make 0 sense. Kendall Rogers posts here and has some explaining to do.

Top 100 what? They’re supposed to be the forefront of college baseball digital media and they put out some crap like this?!

Wtf

Eta this clearly has nothing to do with Top 100 programs. USC and their 12 titles don’t even crack the top 100? Some context would be nice

They shared those rankings before this season started.

What is wrong with you. That's obviously a top 100 rankings for some singular season

You think he'd have Texas as 12th best of all time. USC not in the top 100?

We have counted down the top 100 programs in college baseball, as they stand in 2022. For the purpose of this exercise, we don’t care what happened in the 1970s or 80s, or even the 90s — that’s ancient history to a potential recruit in 2022. Tradition is nice, but it’s more important to establish a tradition of consistent winning in the last decade, and especially in the last five years. Our ultimate goal here is to identify the programs in the best shape right now, with an eye toward the next five to 10 years.

Posted with those rankings back in October.

I wouldn’t look much into those rankings today at all.

If you read their write up on us in the rankings, they basically say they expect us to start to take a big leap forward.

They make those rankings to get clicks and it’s working no way they honestly can think LSU is really 7th

LSU had just finished signing the #1 HS class and picking off the All American list for transfers. And they ranked LSU 7th. Crazy.

Before this year, LSU hadn't made much noise in Omaha since our last title, except for 2017, and hadn't made it back to Omaha since then. So by that criteria, I can see it.

But of course, this year changes everything.

On top of catastrophe syndrome we have to have the most insecure fan base

Aside from being irrelevant how programs are “ranked” the criteria appear to be where the programs were at the time the rankings were released (apparently last fall) and base on recent history.

Prior to 2 weeks ago we hadn’t been to the CWS since 2017. In the 8-9 years before Oct of 2022 Vandy had won 2 titles and played for 2 others. Many of our fans were complaining that other programs like Vandy had passed us as recently as a month ago. All that matters is where Johnson takes the program from here
