I think LSU fans are paranoid after the last few years.

Houston will not cancel this game...they can handle this.

People here don't understand how badly Houston floods. Go west towards Katy and there is still soccer fields underwater from their July floods. When I worked there we shut down the office a couple times over basic storms.

People also don't seem to understand the magnitude of 24 inches rain. That's a ton.

It will be 6-7 days after a hurricane

Not it won't

and the hurricane isn't even forecast to make landfall near houston

Its predicted to exit and drop up to 30" on the area.

Houston will get some rain

It might and it might flood.

As long as there isnt widespread flooding the game will be played in Houston.

That's exactly what's predicted.

That said I think the game will be played. But at this time no one can say for sure. The SEC commissioner doesn't have much to say in this case.

Buddy of mine works for local news and said they are already planning contingencies. High likelihood the game isn't played if they get the full amount of rain they expect. They will. Likely make a call on it by Monday at noon.

As of this AM they are forecasting the Hurrican/Tropical Storm is going to move in and park itself over this area.. rain will not even move out of the area until middle of next week. Thats 5 to 6 days of rainfall...

Contingency plans would probably be a good idea...

don't tell that to these idiots

I want to be in Houston as bad as anyone for the LSU game but if the forecasts don't change it's not happening

Let's pretend Houston isn't viable

Is the game moved? NOLA seems like a solid landing spot if so. Hotels, flights, and empty stadium that weekend.

No truer words.

Yes. Houston isnt in a bowl like NOLA but it IS flat as a pancake like LA and they dont have a huge pumping system like NOLA. Their topography drains very slowly and a system that is going to dump that much rain and then STALL! Houston might be in some serious trouble. Dont forget that the worst part of a Gulf storm is the east side and thats the side thats going to be battering H-Town.

Also, how soon are the Tigers heading over to Houston for the game? I ask because almost half the models have the storm looping back towards LA after landfall in Port Lavaca. The Tigers might have trouble just getting to the game, having to drive through a storm moving at them.

I think it is funny how people outside of Houston are more worried about this little storm than those of us who live in Houston.

Hell I am in the SW suburbs and am not really all that worried...

TS Allison disagrees. I was driving into Houston in 2001 during that storm. I saw 18-wheelers underwater on their interstates. We got stuck on the I-10 and couldnt get off at any exit for miles. Everything was swamped. There was Katrina level flooding in some places. We killed the car we came in on trying to push through. The car floated off the pavement a few times, my feet were in water in the backseat, water was splashing over the hood and we ended up getting rescued by an AMC Eagle.

No reason to not have a contingency plan. If all is well then just tear that plan up and go on as scheduled. But if there is an issue and no plan you will have another Florida debacle.

It's a lot more complicated though since this is a neutral site game. The people at NRG don't want to refund all the tickets that are sold, and they aren't going to let the game just move to LSU unless they are getting the gate for the game. Or they get compensated in some way. Then there's the task of how to distribute the tickets at the new location on where people are going to sit. If the game can't be played at NRG it's going to turn into a crazy amount of work in a very short amount of time which might not be feasible.

If the storm takes that eastern path NOLA may be just as fricked as Houston. My guess would be if Houston can't host the game it will either be moved to BYU or it will be cancelled
