Quit your whining! We took what Nichols gave us. They had 6 to 7 guys in the box all night long daring us to throw, so we threw y TD's. Who needs to run when you can pass all night long. They played 1 deep half of the time, hell even Les Miles would have went to the pass against that. Besides Nichols is one of the best FCS teams, won that championship last year. This was Nichols bowl game. Alabama struggled to beat S Fla., Notre Dame loses to N Illinois, Penn St narrowly escapes losing to Bowling Green. This shite happens. I don't care about stats I want to win. If a team dares us to run because they are playing to stop the pass then you run.

Oh BTW we beat last years FCS champion last night 44-23

This!

Against Nicholls we should be able to tell them the running play we are about to run, and still run it down their throats!

We are going to have a hard time closing close games out if we can’t run the ball and burn clock.

This is a Neanderthal mindset. Trying to do that is what cost us the USC game.

You know what the 2019 team did protect leads and close out games? They run the fricking offense and scored touchdowns.

This board has an obsession with the run game just in a vacuum, and not as a part of a functioning offense

NIL and bad coaching and poor recruiting has brought LSU football program in the dumps

Yeah we will have a hard time closing games by running against any 7 man front. So you want us to go back to the Les Miles way? You know like run Leonard Fournette against Alabama 30 times for 60 yds even though it's not working?

Profoundly dumb take. Nicholls shouldn’t have the option of “giving” an alleged FBS playoff team anything. If you can’t understand what that means, there’s nothing more for us to discuss.

This is concerning. It seems we really didn't even really try to run the ball.

actually, for the RBs, they had 51 yards on 19 carries.....if you back out nuss 2 for 13. 51 yards on 19 carries against Nichols. Against Nichols. My god. What the hell has happened to our talent in year 3 under Kelly. Our Dbs suck, our linebackers outside 1 or 2 whities suck, and our DL is non existent. Throw in that we have zero talent at rb, and an OC that can't take advantage of what we do have...and my god.....what the hell is BK doing to us. All I heard on hear was people trust BK to build a team...it is year 3 and our talent has regressed.

And 13 came on a scramble by Niss.

So the backs actually had 20 carries for 51 yards.

Thats 2.55yards per carry by RBs

This is stupid.

No one is saying our playcalling should be 50/50 run/pass

But good teams, like 2019 could get yards on the ground when we needed it. Thats what balance is.

Being able to move the ball via run or pass regardless of the ration.

And this team CANNOT move the ball in the ground.

I still wish they would get under center, but it’s very obvious that the OL struggles to run block. Like struggles a lot

I legitimately do not what else they can call

We're going to have to start using Jackson the way Brees used to use Kamara. Short passes as extended handoffs. It seems that's gonna be the only way to get him in space. And it may be time to move on from Frank unfortunately

The run game has been really bad under BK his entire 3 years here

Has it? Last season, LSU had 1532 yd on 288 carries for 5.3 YPC with 24 TDs by players not name Jayden Daniels. Daniels had 1134 yards on 135 carries for 8.4 YPC with 10 TDs. LSU had 4 running backs with 20 or more carries with the lowest YPC being 4.9.

This is factual history, not revisionist history based on how you feel about the coach right now.

Different defense on that team. If we can't chew up some clock our ceiling is 2019 Oklahoma

No, but in the 4th quarter we should be able to pound the ball against Nichols. Are you saying our run blocking is adequate? That 3 yards a carry against Nichols is going to cut it?

Agree, but u also had good run blocking and CEH making plays.

I dont disagree with ur comment, we should run the offense…..but if we cant run the ball in the 4th against Nichols and only average 3 yards a carry, there are bigger issues.
