I know and teams like LaTech are a shue in, and Lsu hammers them. Not fair??

LSU hammered them on a weekday game at LSU. In a series there is no indication LSU would hammer them based on that scenario. Same when LSU loses midweek games. It only means LSU has better hitting against mid-week pitching than LA Tech.

I would not want to play this LSU team in the regionals are super.. They have the talent to win against any team they play...

I don’t think you realize that beating bad teams and losing to good teams doesn’t make you a good team.

I don’t think he said it makes LSU a good team.

I thought his implication was that because we lose to good teams, we should have a regional locked up. It’s possible I misinterpreted.

So you are saying that in fact mid week games don’t really mean anything?

I think you have to make a leap to get to that conclusion from reading my post. Your question then begs of me to assume that you must think midweek games matter equally to weekend games or that midweek games mean everything. Why do you think that?

I did not communicate that they mean nothing.. They mean a lot. They get playing time for younger players, allow pitchers to develop, get extra at bats for hitters and keep competitive juices flowing when necessary. When it comes to wins and loses they do not matter as much as weekend games.

I don’t think midweek games, for the most part, mean anything in terms of postseason seeding. I believe when you play in a conference like the SEC the committee looks at what you did in conference play.

I think his implication is LSU is a regional team that’s currently on the bubble due to who they’ve played.

Personally I think there’s a little more to it than that, but when you couple who they played and when, I think it’s the biggest factor.

That’s just talking this team and season specifically, not a program status statement.

This is where CPM has dragged this program. Shame. Women's BB has become more important than keeping a championship level baseball program.

Oh good, that makes the losing better.

It's definitely better than losing to midrange teams.

La Tech is far more deserving of playing baseball in A regional than LSU right now.

On paper, that's really not that clear. And, that's the OPs point.

LSU's RPI is 20 right now with 8 quadrant 1 wins. Tech's RPI is 24 also with 8 wins but a > .500 winning percentage. LSU has smashed Tech twice.

Tech has wins over Arkansas and Ole Miss as does LSU.

Honestly, you can make a pretty good argument that the two teams should be graded very similarly.

I think the argument is whether this is a regional team...not "good" which obviously isn't defined.

Restated, we are not good.

Also, everything is going to be ok...after they fire Paul, er, I mean, after Paul retires.

Do you believe they would have a better record/sec record than us with our schedule?

So does the winner of the Ivy League deserve a shot at Bama for the National Championship in Football because they won their conference. If they are the best in their conference and get stomped by the 11th place team from another, that should tell you something about their conference.

Football and baseball are very different. An Ivy League school can beat the best team in the country in baseball, or a team like Stony Brook can upset someone like LSU in any given year. Anyone can beat anyone in baseball. Not the same in football. Only 8-10 teams may have a shot at beating the best team in football every season. There’s parity in baseball, not football.

Didn't Tech hammer him for 5 ER in 3.1 IP early in the year?

Also, Tech has to play 4 conference games on the weekend, which is why they couldn't empty tank with any guy last night.
