re: 10 run rule after 7 for all sec games this season

Really dont lose much from an innings perspective in reality (for pitching development etc), so i dont think thats a great argument. But the game is meant to go 9 innings, just play it IMO. I know they are tired of the 4 hour long games, but, I mean, why not? It's baseball.
We arent artificially shortening the regulation of football for blowouts.
It's not so big a deal just kind of a weird thing to adjust to. I'd hope they ran the data on SEC matchups the last 10-20 years and found maybe 0-2 teams or something ridiculously insignificant who came down from 10+ runs in 8th-9th inning and won a game to think this was at least competitively ok.

The ONLY ONLY ONLY ONLY way I will be okay with this is if it leads to more games being run on the linear channels and not stream only.
That's not going to happen though because they have no interest in growing the audience, only getting more people who are already fans to sign up for the streaming.

I don’t really like the rule, but I don’t think it’s going to affect a ton of games in conference. They better not start that putting a runner on 2B bull to start extra innings though.

Maybe we just keep it at 9 runs till 7th is over, Duhhhh.

Agree 100%. Big boy baseball is a 9 inning game and should be played as such. It is not uncommon for a pitcher to dominate for 6 - 7 innings and then hit the wall and the opposing team rally.

Rally Possum games happen. Can’t imagine losing that game against Arky if they scored down the stretch of that game

That rule is an abomination. I'll live with a mercy rule, but starting a runner at second in extras innings - while well intended to speed up the game - just comes across as a cheesy gimmick.

Only 1 time in the @SEC era has @LSUbaseball or its opponent come back from such a deficit (4/10/88 vs. Ole Miss).
137 of #LSU's 1,836 SEC games since 1933 would have been called early - 99 after 7 innings; 38 after 8 innings.

Definitely changes the strategy of pitching depth, roles, etc.
Don't like it.

I don't mind it on Sundays because of the travel restrictions anyway, but Friday and Saturday? Play a full 9.

I believe that rule is no longer in effect (man on 2B in extra innings).

Wtf? This year? Goddamnit.
When did we end up with a bunch of tiny vaginies running this conference?
So much for breaking HR records.

For the double headers, fine but yeah this is a pusc move.
Also, baseball is painful to watch on TV, why make it longer when it is a blowout?

Incentive to not get down by 10 runs.

Is this real? If so, I absolutely hate it. That is just awful. Not only do comebacks happen, if my team is up 10 or even 20 after 7, I want to see if they can win by 20 or 30. Those are the fun times. They don't happen often, but they're a blast when they do. If you're on the other end of that whooping and you're complaining about spending pitchers' innings in a blowout, that is the penalty for getting blown out. Deal with it.
Not to mention it ruins the fun for the reserves who get to come in, in those games. I'm sick of rules being changed for the sake of change, every year.

Good timing SEC.
We can call that the LSU Rule.

I agree. It stinks. Mercy rule should only apply on game 3’s of sec series.

My only gripe is that if you are blowing out a team in game 1 or 2 of a series that makes another team use more pitching
