getting swept in the middle of the season on the road against a good team will have no bearing on whether this team makes it to Omaha

Should we be disappointed?

What nonsense. That is always the goal but rarely "or bust". What are you suggesting we bust? Do you think Jay Johnson should be on the hot seat if we don't make the CWS?

Hot seat? No

But only making Omaha 1 out of 4 years wouldn't be a great look that's for sure

Certainly not Ideal. I have no issues with your statement. We should expect to have a realistic shot at making the CWS every season, IMO. And I think we do this season. I certainly will be disappointed if we don't but better teams than this one have stumbled in the past. The old "that's baseball" cliche that so many hate applies here, as it often does.

While I am not superstitious, I do often think it is better to stumble at least once during the season in order to have the experience of righting the ship rather than stumble during a regional or super or even in the CWS. I think this because it is rare for a team to not stumble during a season and I get very nervous come post-season if it has not happened or if it happens as the season ends.

That's just my way of thinking regarding baseball.

Yeah having a rough weekend in the middle of the season means nothing. Tons of time for this season to play out and see how June goes

Maineri made it to Omaha in the 3 of his last 11 seasons and most agreed it was time for him to move on. "Not a great look" would be a good way to frame it.

Hot seat? Maybe not the correct term, but a come to Jesus meeting by with Woodward? Yes

If we don’t make Omaha that means we would be 1/4 in his career making Omaha. Currently we have only made super regionals 1/3 times. If that becomes 1/4 also……

That’s not the standard here at all. The natty buys you buffering but it doesn’t give you a forever rope

In saying this this season is not yet time to freak out but I don’t think the majority of people have any expectations less than Omaha. And I think that’s perfectly rational for this team too

In 2023 we dropped back to back SEC series and lost to ULL AND Nicholls. Then won the Natty. It's April

While true, that team had more studs

This team has arguably the most talent in the country. It's a bust year if they don't go to Omaha. I don't know how you could say otherwise. I'm not panicking after being swept but Jay better establish some leaders on this team and how they respond to this sweep will tell a lot. LSU just doesn't have enough power to override a bad hitting day and still score enough runs to win on those days. Every single loss is because of bad hitting. In their 6 losses they have hit 2 HR in those games.

I think it will cost us the regular season SEC title.

Just a hard road compared to the teams we’re chasing.

even sweeping tenn and arkansas there isn’t really any room for error going forward.

I dont think 20 is enough this year

All 10-5 records aren't created equal. LSU has a soft 10-5 in that all except one of the Tigers' wins are against filler SEC opponents, and LSU is 1-5 vs teams with a pulse. And looking at future conference opponents, it's hard to be optimistic per outlook-- teams like Tennessee, Arkansas and Bama, and A&M on the road, will probably clean LSU's clock.

LSU has played the 1st, 6th, 10th, 13th, and 16th teams in conference.
Tenn has played the 6th, 8th, 12th, 14th, and 15th teams.

Is that much of a difference?

There will be teams from the SEC sent out to other regionals because there is simply to many really good SEC teams to keep us all ranked high as we beat the crap out of one another. SEC is elite. Let’s back off the lethal talk

Yes. Tenn has actually played an easier schedule than us. That being said, it's not a given that we go 10 and 5 the rest of the way.

I could see the final series shaking out like this.

Carolina = 3
A&M = 2
Bama = 2
Tennessee = 2
Arkansas =1

Can we sweep the aggies? Can we avoid a sweep by arkansas?

I think 10 is possible, but 8-7 is also possible.

The better question is whether they can avoid being swept by the Aggies?
