With all these QB commits, it puts us in a strange place of wanting Myles to have a great

season (obviously), but not too great that he goes to the NFL. I know a lot of people just assume he’ll come back for ‘21, but he’d be a 5th year SR, and a great, injury-free season may have him bouncing after ‘20. Which would be great for LSU, because it would likely mean we had a great season and proved the offense was no 1-hit wonder, helping recruiting even more across the board. However...
If Brennan does leave and has a healthy enough season to where we can redshirt both freshman QBs (I actually think they’re gonna have to pick one and let him play more than 4 games if only to strategically stagger them), then we’d have 3 freshmen (2 redshirts and Nuss a true) vying for the starting job in ‘21. Sure, it happens (most recently with Hurts/Tua), but most guys who grab the starting job that early are pretty entrenched for the next few years. So that would likely mean one of Johnson or Finley transfer (most have predicted the loser of that battle would wind up bouncing anyway), but no matter his feelings toward LSU in the summer of ‘20, could affect Howard’s decision when the actual time comes to sign. Then Manning right after him.
Please don’t get me wrong—this is a great problem to have—and will likely work itself out for the best. The fact we are recruiting QBs at such a high level considering our track record is absolutely amazing. I just think we really need Brennan to come back for ‘21 to keep everybody happy and hopeful, but it’s kinda weird hoping he’ll be great this year. Just not too great.

I have seen a lot of bad takes here over the years, but this one is up there.

How about
Brennan wins heisman
LSU wins natty
Back to back #1 picks
Yep sounds good

If that happened the tremors across the CFB world would be glorious and a certain diminutive head coach to our east would probably spontaneously combust.
Lets do that.

What do the QB commits have to do with that desire?

Something will end up giving. Even more so if the NCAA eventually passes the new transfer rule.
My contention is that they will all show up and compete bearing one of them really just being a flat out stud.

If Brennan leaves early for the NFL, it must likely means he and LSU had a great season. I'll take my chances.

I actually like the take but I'd amend it: I want Brennan to play to the best of his abilities and I hope for one of two outcomes:
1. He balls out, puts up great numbers, we win the natty and he goes to the NFL as a first rounder.
In this circumstance, O probably does look for a transfer to have someone on the roster with experience in case neither of the freshmen are ready.
2. He has a slightly better year than Burrow 2018. But a similar arc. Meaning, he starts a little faster than Joe did in 2018 (better than 50% completion) but by season's end, things are clicking and there is optimism going into 2021 with an experienced, 5th year senior QB.
What I don't want to happen is for Brennan to play like a fifth rounder and decide to go into the draft early like so many LSU Tigers have done in the past (when another year in the program could have really shot their draft status higher).

If he's half as good as Burrow: 2500 yards & 30 TDs.
More than enough to win the NC.

Heard Mike D on Moscona yesterday compare USC's QB resurgence after Carson Palmer to LSU and what could happen under Joe Burrow, so I was curious how they recruited QBs.
It looks a lot like they took a stud every other year. Every once in a while they filled a gap with a lower tier guy, but it was rare.
Anyway, this is the year these guys were recruited. As you can see, most of the time these guys are redshirting.
98: Carson Palmer
01: Matt Leinart(RS)
03: John David Booty:(inj SO RS)
05: Mark Sanchez (RS)
07: Aaron Corp (RS)

10: Jesse Scroggins (Corp transfers 2010)
11: Cody Kessler (RS)
13: Max Browne
14: Jalen Green (3*)
15: Sam Darnold (RS)

There is a faction of fans who completely lose sight of the goal. They get caught up in the rat race (recruiting, next year, the draft)....we want Myles to have literally the best year possible. Thats why we show up you buffoon.

I hope Burrow has a great season in NFL.
I hope Brennan is the first player chosen in the Draft.
We get another National Championship.
We deserve it.

I hope he does declare for the draft, that means he’d have a helluva year

Sure wish we didn’t have the greatest season ever so that we could maybe have a couple guys for another year.

It sounds strange, but if Brennan doesnt throw for at least 4,000 yards and 35 TDs, LSU fans will say his year was a disappointment. But if he goes off for more than that, I still dont think he leaves, even if he gets a favorable draft grade. He's waited a long time to be the guy, so I think he'll stick around and use up all of his eligibility.
