I'm pretty stoked. Sure, I'd love to shore up D T and CB, but we just got 27 new Tigers. A few coaching improvements and some personnel upgrades will do us some good.

Lmao the “reputable” sites are the ones that favor LSU the most in the rankings let’s be honest.

Just like the shite this board was throwing around when Dom McKinley committed to 8&4. One second he’s Sospher, the next he’s Aaron Donald as soon as there’s a hunch he could commit to LSU.

It’s one stupid fricking echo chamber that has no sense of being objective. Even saying “LSU should be better than 10th or 14th in the nation with 27 recruits” will get you downvoted into oblivion. It’s hilarious.

There are two services that matter and anyone who follows recruiting knows this. Average their rankings and you still have a top 10 class.

Objective is the last word in the fricking English language I would use to describe you.

ETA: LSU is 5th or 12th nationally if you are being objective and use On3 or 247 instead of trying to prop up more bullshite.

This looks like a solid class. One thing that has really hurt LSU in the last 10 years is the lack of retention. If one looks at several of those classes, 1/3 to 1/2 of those guys left within a few years. The portal helped us to address this issue. If we have a top 10 class where we retain 80% of our guys through 4 years, I'll take that over a top 5 class where we retain less than 50%. Last year the guys we got in the portal weren't as impactful as the guys we got the year before but I think LSU has done well.

Auburn's class reminds me of a Les Miles class. Talent at skill positions and DL. But no QB or O-Line.

I’m sorry you lost some fingers in that masturbating accident, because in the normal world handful means 5 and I’m not aware of any classes of ours with 5 5*s. I also met a girl that had 6 fingers one time which is probably scarcer than a class with 6 5*s.

We used to get a handful of 5*s in our classes. Now we’re lucky to get one

Those days are gone, for everyone.

On3 has 32 5-stars, and they signed with 17 different schools.

We are 3rd. Thanks for playing. Be sure to check in around this time next year to post more negative shite.

Can you count? We’re 6th.

UGA, Bama, Texas, OU, Auburn are all in the SEC last time I checked.

One thing you should consider before complaining about 3* players. The majority of them are from Louisiana, and they have a high % to not hit the portal because of their home school ties. Those that work out will likely be 4 year players.

11 out of 20 in the SEC!! Jesus Christ how top heavy can one conference get! The playoff gurus next year need to seriously consider 4 to 5 Sec teams or the whole thing will be a Sham.

That's a lazy take. Some services actually are better than others. It has to do with resources and the comprehensive coverage of various regions. ESPN for instance, just doesn't put in much effort for the last 4/5 years. Their rankings are shite. They completely miss on dozens of guys. On3 puts in the work and does FAR better evaluations and knows the kids and has much better analysis.

I think the recruiting is changing and LSU will either be one of the first to see it or be the first not to. What I mean by that is with NIL and transfers, it looks like the LSU staff is putting a higher priority on Louisiana recruiting or strong ties to Louisiana for the loyalty factor.

You can sit here and say that’s not the right answer but in time it just might be exactly what teams will have to lean more heavily on. Either that or NEVER create real quality depth and experience within your program. If other programs have tons of movement within their roster and LSU keeps their players together for 3-5 years then we will have the upper hand down the road.

Other teams will continually try to create a new team every year while LSU keeps developing and building within. While I don’t think we will ever be able to completely go away from the transfers portal, bringing in only 1-5 players a year while others are bringing in double digits will absolutely have an impact on the ability to build within their programs.

I think this will slightly change over time but will now always rely heavily on Louisiana talent or those who have LSU at heart. Of course I think we will also reach out to get the best talent in the region on occasion, it will be those who really want to be a Tiger and just need the right messaging.

When Louisiana has elite talent, is when we will see those top 3 classes. I’m of the opinion that Louisiana always has elite talent, some years it’s just not as advertised as others. But I don’t think we can go wrong by relying heavily on Louisiana talent, it’s proven when you look around the country and see all these Louisiana kids making huge impacts on other teams.

Here’s what I would do though until it’s fixed. I would focus heavily on the DL around Louisiana and the entire country until this thing is fixed. We have to get that area up to standard. I think the rest of the defense will be fine but just like they focused so heavily on the OL when CBK came here, we absolutely need to do the same on the DL. Stack those guys up and let go of the ones we miss on. Eventually we will end up with a very good DL. I just don’t see the same intensity on the DL yet, and maybe I’m missing something or maybe it’s coming but I don’t see it yet.

I like the kids we have now but I think we needed more in last years HS and this years HS recruiting to be able to keep building within. I don’t see how we can step away from the portal at the DL position just yet. Not until we start landing 5-6 studs evey year out of HS, like we are on the OL. I like some of the DEs we have but we need more from the inside DT spot. We need at least 3-4 every year and 2-3 DEs, since the DT spot is the weakest. If we can land like 5-6 in back to back seasons, I’ll start feeling better. Then you just let go of those who you don’t see as impact players. I don’t understand how we have a perfect plan for OLman, from size, body type, football smarts and mean streak but don’t have the same thing for the DL? That baffles me?

I agree with this. In the portal era, stability and low attrition are very important factors.
