And have you factored in how important the 2019 offensive line was to that offense?

They did that for the most part this year too. What about the run game?

There is no Burrow, Chase, or Jefferson…besides that—-yeah, maybe.

Jesus wtf
I would be happy if next years team averages 35 ppg.

But, Joe could scramble and run effectively when needed. It wasn't his first instinct but he could run.
You’re not wrong but if Joe didn’t run once all year, the 2019 offense would still have been incredibly lethal.

I wouldn't go out that far on the limb but I wouldn't have in '19 either. I expected Burrow & Co to be good but I wasn't expecting GOAT.
No one did, including the NFL. Joe was projected as a late Day 3 Draft pick had he come out after’18.

They couldn't shake 2019's weiner.

No doubt the offense could be good but rival 2019? That offense was generational
I thought last years offense was on that level as well.

Pump the brakes on that statement!

If Nuss has the same type of leap as a passer as Burrow and JD did then it will
be a very good offense for sure but he isn’t going to have multiple 1st round picks to throw to.

Should be a good matchup against my old brethren bb. Excited for it! Still would love to come back and have Baker as LBs coach. Good group of kids at LSU, we can make it work!

This offense has a chance to be very special, but that was a once in a lifetime offense. We threw the ball soooo many times this year and Nuss isn't even at 4,000 pass yards. 5,000 is wild.

I like what you are saying but I will add that we have won National Championships with less talent on offense than what we potentially have coming in assuming we pick up a couple of good o linemen. But it requires a little more balance with a defense. We can’t forget about what our needs are there too.

A lot of us saw greatness in him that first year. Maybe not GOAT but Heisman invite and 1st round pick. The posts are still there if you'd care to dig.
And that greatness wouldn't have been fully unlocked without a creative playcaller. The design, approach, general philosophy of the 2019 offense was nothing like the 2018 offense...which was simplistic and predictable. Burrow, Jefferson, Chase, etc all had the natural ability. Once combined with the playcaller the offense became one of the best ever.
That's my concern with the 2025 offense. Sloan's offense produced a LOT yards...but much of that was unproductive because the scoring output didn't match the yards gained. LSU was awful in the run game and only slightly better in the redzone. We'd see a new wrinkle pop up occasionally (extended use of Thomas vs. Ole Miss, Green at "WR" vs Arkansas)...only to see it quickly go away. Everyone in the world knew when LSU was running the football and how they were going to try to do it. It took Williams and Durham breaking tackles on their own to get anything going. The middle of the field in the passing game was a no-mans land...until LSU had no choice but to attack it (see South Carolina). But it was as if success didn't matter because the next week they would go right back to the same, long outside throws that took a long time to develop, that are difficult for the QB to consistently execute.
Sloan was the biggest disappointment of the season, and if LSU takes the same approach next season it may be slightly better simply because Nuss will have more experience and the collection of WRs, on the whole, may be good. But it won't fully maximize its potential. That would be disappointing because the defense will probably take another step forward.

I gave you a downvote to add to the tremendous total but I sincerely hope this thread gets bumped next January after winning a national championship with record offense so you can gloat to all of us how you were right and we were wrong

its really really stupid to make this comparison when the group hasnt practiced one time together. comparing this to the greatest offense of all time is mind blowing
