Kelly and staff are really going to have to blow things away for us to get back in it here. Not saying it's impossible but he is working against a few years of schools like Wisconsin working Tackett the right way. I wouldnt say Tackett is sold on leaving the state regardless but he certainly has no issue going far away.
I think it will be pretty easy for Kelly to distance himself from Orgeron. And guys may say they really want to leave the state...until they realize everything that comes with leaving the state. In Baton Rouge you are far enough away from small town NW Louisiana to feel the sense of independence of leaving home...but close enough where home is easily accessible if/when you need/want it. And for a kid from Louisiana, Midwest winters can be a big culture shock.
Recruits now have to look at LSU with fresh eyes again. The HC that crashed them into a massive drop-off following 2019 is gone. That HC's approach and way of doing things are gone. But the program is still here. LSU has shown it can win big with several different coaches. Something no Big 10 school outside of Ohio St. can say in many of these kids' lifetimes.

It's amazing that they're always Arkansas or East Texas all of a sudden apart of the state when Andre Whitworth, Rashard Lawrence, Tre White, Morris Claiborne, Tackett Curtis, Devin White, Will Campbell or Bradie James shows up.

Many has two top studs in Tackett Curtis and Tylen Singleton.
The fact is Tackett’s family loathed the way Orgeron ran the program.
The new LSU staff simply is behind and has been out recruited by rest of teams.

Dude has a lot of POP. Looks stiff, but brings the wood.

That’s what I’m afraid of with my linebackers. We’ve had a run of too many marginally athletic linebackers the past 3 years.

I don't see how any kid in La doesn't dream of playing for LSU growing up. A lot of these kids have been pushed by someone else to go elsewhere because they didn't get the attention they thought they should've. Most of these kids don't amount to much and you never hear from them again after college.
These kids need to look at the bigger picture. Playing for LSU opens a lot doors after college if you don't make it to the pros. In another state they are just another football player.
I'll be really surprised if TC comes to LSU. LSU will just find another to fill their need. It won't make or break them.

Maybe Kelly isn't as far off as we may think...
Tackett Curtis, Notre Dame
This article is from May 15, 2021...which means the kid has to love and respect Kelly.
And on Wednesday, the Many High School standout added Notre Dame to that list.
“I'm pumped about it,” the 6-foot-2, 207-pounder said of the Irish offer.
“They've got it going over there. It's such a great program. They've been a great program since I was little. They used to be my second favorite team back when they played Alabama in the national championship and they had Manti Te'o. He used to be my guy.”
If Kelly can work this angle and show that the program is going in the right direction (which we have no doubt so far), he should have a great chance.

Kid has a 4.17 shirt shuttle. Track athlete that’s what makes him elite. Nobody brings the wood like him. You add that kind of mobility that’s why he stands at 45 offers.
He is huge upgrade to recent Ohio State lbs

He's definitely athletic enough for LB, just runs awkwardly. He can be your next Katzenmoyer.

I think O screwed us by not recruiting him and now we are too far behind. He seems to want to go out of state anyway but he would be one hell of a middle linebacker for LSU.

quote:I'm a coach, but I don't claim to be a great LB evaluator. Every time I see Tackett's tape, however, I see a big, strong, hard-hitting, stiff kid.
What are y’all’s thoughts on this kid
Is he any good?
He has hard hits but zero hips.
Of course, I defer to the LSU staff.

Our new DC is a proven SEC DC that coaches LBs and was an NFL LB coach.
If Tackett's choice is based on the best opportunity to develop his talent and not who has shown him the most attention then LSU should be squarely in the mix. It's a long way to the 23' class signing day.
If the argument is "I don't like the staff and culture that USED to be at LSU" then yeah it's a lost cause.

The kid and the coaches have outright said LSU is behind in is recruitment because they didn't like the program O ran

Your whole premise is wrong because Tackett’s dad is not the head coach. Jess Curtis is his uncle.
You thought his whole premise was based on his dad being the coach?
