McKinley showed he has that game wrecker potential last night, imo at DT between him Guillory and Suggs you have a good rotation, just get another body to rotate in. At edge if you can hold onto Womack you’ll have him and Reliford there, edge is the position I’d say you swing for the fences on an elite portal guy

I know there has been rumors of Womack leaving; is that a definite at this point? You do not have him in this group of guys?

A bit of sunshine pumping my guy

The fact is these players are all average SEC players at best if we’re being objective.

I agree Bo will get the most out of them, however, we need a difference maker from the portal

I like that quote.

He is a big arse safety. Probably start out at star but might be a backer.

How about Womack, he could be one of our best DE the next couple of years?

Dylan Carpenter was getting reps last night instead of Womack, not sure what the deal is but I don't think he's going to be around much longer

Bo needs to a get 2 Solid DLs in the portal

It will be 1 max at DT and could be 0.

Some of you don’t seem to understand the numbers crunch we have. We will already be over the 85 just with this recruiting class. We will have to shed up to 15 players to make room for some portal players, and we need some. We probably aren’t losing that many without having to process a few.

Portal players will be at the biggest points of need, like 2 IOL and 1 or 2 Safeties first. We may need 1 QB without one in the class, especially if Swann and/or Collins leave. And if Womack moves on, you can bet on at least one DE from the portal. Maybe they look for a guy like Shand who can be versatile and play some inside and out. We may also be looking for a true WR 1, but we’ll see. A blocking TE has also been mentioned.

I can’t imagine you see more than 1 DT with all of those being critical needs. It will depend on what Bo Davis thinks about the guys he already has.

How do you know this? Dom and Breaux are on their way to being above avg if not elite and the a couple of the recruits have natural abilities to be at least above avg

I do not disagree with you due to potential for injuries to the four you mention. If two go down, we won't be able to rotate in consistently to keep all of the DTs fresh and ready to dominate.

DL definitely improved, LB were up and down..Saftey's were TERRIBLE! Burns and Gilbert should of sat instead of playing. CBs due to Zy were better. But not locking ZY on the other teams #1 hurt vs Bama etc.

I need to apologize to Omar Speights.

It wasn’t him.

That’s pretty much impossible when you play zone and we played a lot of that vs mobile QBs to keep more eyes facing the line of scrimmage. It didn’t work vs the most athletic QBs we played because of how slow Penn is and how terrible all of the Safeties are.

It got a little better when we started playing more 4-3 and Atkins and West Weeks more at LB the last two games. The DL also held up much better in those games.

#2 in sacks at LSU despite being a rotational DT 5.5

That just tells me that we pretty desperately need a good edge. I'm personally not really a believer in good trench players being available in the portal, but if you're not a Suh where you're crowned the first non QB taken multiple years out of the draft dominant, your DT should not be getting appreciable amount of sacks in modern defenses. That means you're basically always only getting coverage sacks. The DTs being the relative strength of the line is also actively a bad thing. It's obviously better to have good players than to not have good players, but it's just not a very important position in college where you'll play maybe 1 team that isn't 90% shotgun. You don't need world beaters to run stuff those anemic run concepts. Also see Michigan not being very good with both of their DTs being first rounders.

We will need to hold on to Suggs and get 1 dominant DT in the portal.

Suggs has impressed me a lot this season. Against OU this wk there was a TV replay of him standing his ground on a double team block and still getting his arm around the blocker to grab the RB. He didnt get the tackle but the LB/DEs cleaned it up for a TFL.

He has also impressed me with his ability to split blockers on a pass rush.
