Still kinda bummed that we don’t see Dunne in beam or floor. Seems like Covid has really set her back some.

I am excited about Kamryn's vault - I know she won't go tonight, but I hope they keep encouraging her, because it could be there! Getting excited!!

Seems like its the ankle injury. She was rolling on bars, beam and floor all fall.

That said, I still wish she had an easier leap series on beam. Same with Ballard, no reason for most the lineup having the switch half in their beam routines. Its a built in deduction for many kids, very few elites hit that series without deduction.

I hope when Kiya does beam later, there isn't the front toss in it. That to me makes no sense at all, to upgrade that beam routine, when she already has chronic achilles tenderness and has plenty enough difficulty as is

I am hoping for a good beam showing from Kiya - I know it has to be hard mentally from earlier in the season.

If she doesn’t do the front toss today, she should be fine and hit. Would rather see her on floor than beam this week. It’s where we need her score most

FX

- The key on floor is not difficulty, but cleanliness. Look at how well Arkansas scored even though their gymnasts mounted with "simple" double tucks. Clean up the landings, go for easier tumbling and work on those leaps!

- Bryant knocked it out of the park today but that front double full as the last pass is a ticking time bomb (she fell on it at Gym 101). Maybe switch it around with the second pass?

- Re cleanliness, we need Dunne and Campbell in the lineup.

Saw it coming back in Week 1. But knowing Haleigh, this will only her extra hunger and fire for the rest of the season.

Besides, the one tenth gap was also given away on UB dismounts, Dunne’s pak salto, Reagan’s beam and Edwards FX dismount.

Honestly, Florida deserved the win with Trinity’s GOAT AA performance and our 2 “weak” rotations (UB and FX).

We’ll probably lose the SEC regular season title but we’ve shown that we can absolutely go toe to toe with Florida for the SEC championships.

I agree - I posted some thoughts in the thread on the Rant. But after an hour to think - Florida’s was probably the better team tonight, by one or two tenths (coming on bars and tonight floor). I am absolutely gutted for the end for haleigh though. Even though there was rampant over scoring
Across the board in the last two
Rotations - vault was such an improvement! And I mean if kiya is healthy she is fire - loved her DTY tonight.

I think people are seeing that even though Florida might be the best (right now) we are right up there with them.

Some thoughts... first of all, Haleigh Bryant should not feel bad whatsoever. That tenth could have come from a dismount that wasn’t stuck somewhere, etc. LSU definitely had some cracks in the floor lineup overall, so I hope she is not putting that all on her.

I didn’t expect LSU to come out leading and then lead the entire meet until the end, so I’m so happy and excited about their performance tonight. That may have been one of my favorite vault rotations that I can remember! If LSU had their normal floor routines tonight, they would have won. Side note.. I hope that will be it for CD on floor this year. The risk is not worth the reward, if you can even call it that. The best beam lead of in the country from her, and that’s where she is really needed.

What can you say about Alyona? Her improvement has been critical for the team’s success thus far.

Kiya Johnson is still the superstar of this team. A healthy Kiya is unstoppable.

And my girl Sierra!! I knew she had it in her. I think she has that spot locked up now, and deservedly so!

And y’all... can you imagine this team with Kai as well? Lord! So pumped for the future!

Recopying from my post the rant because people on this thread are more likely to discuss gymnastics and not be trolls and/or creepily comment on gymnasts’ bodies

Unfortunately, I think it is time to stop the desiderio on floor experiment - I mean truly, give jt up. And not a slight to Christina - it’s just unfortunate through injuries and just normal growth she has never been able to be consistent and tonight - I feel like we were lucky she didn’t tear an ankle ligament or worse which puts her out for beam.

I am still coming down from watching that meet - it was honestly spectacular (and can you IMAGINE Haleigh, Kiya, AND Trinity on the same team, that was a sad one to lose) but am gutted for Haleigh. We shoes growth - that was a post season vault lineup, bars was probably overscored in general as were kiya and haleigh on beam (fl floor scores were super high in that rotation too, so it evened out - even if FL fans don’t agree, lol) but man - that was not our best case floor scenario and we needed it to be.

Biggest pluses - though she was shaky, kiya stayed on the beam, which is progress for this season and our (somewhat crazy) 198.

Also, Florida has an advantage over us in technique. That was on full display tonight. You rarely saw the bent knees from them like you did from LSU. I do think they are the better team....right now. If LSU will start focusing on the little form issues (lack of 180 degree splits, bent knees, dismounts), there’s no reason for them to not win it all this year.

LSU had an amazing performance and continued to improve each week. I thought Florida was a little bit better last night but with the improvements made each week, no reason to think this team doesn't have a shot for big things this post season.

We just got to clean up on some of the small things as you said, split positions, dismount form, some handstands and fine tuning toe point in certain routines.

Hopefully when we go to Alabama, we get Arenas in on bars. I was hoping Bryant would do her other dismount because the current one kills her routine and takes it into the 9.8's.

I love Desiderio but I think we need to see Arenas out there on floor moving forward. Its safe to say Ballard earned her spot, she is incredible.

From what it sounds like, LSU may use K. Ryan again on vault again soon. Floor will get a giant boost eventually when Kiya gets back out there.

Take out Christina on floor, add Arenas. And until Regan is healthy again, take her off and add Kiya at the back end and you have a really solid floor rotation.
Maybe this lineup: Edwards, Arenas, Alyonna, Ballard, Bryant and Johnson.

Also, is Dunne's issue just conditioning from her bout with Covid? I really thought she would be on at least 3 rotations by now.

I agree. I say the only senior we need to use on floor going forward is Edwards. Campbell and Desiderio have these chronic issues that keep rearing their ugly heads. Keep them on beam only. No need to risk their long term health.

Regarding Dunne, Jay mentioned in an interview on YouTube that Dunne hasn’t yet gotten her stamina back. Kathy Johnson Clarke also made reference to that on the broadcast last night. It takes longer for some athletes to regain full strength. Drew Watson (Auburn) also had Covid some time last fall and she is just now back in the lineups. There was another athlete at one of the Big 10 schools who had Covid last summer and wasn’t able to practice at all in the fall. Can’t remember exactly who it was.

I don't think Dunne having COVID should be a significant factor on her bars. At least not the first half of the routine (which she messed up last night, the release to pak combo). Her double layout though, we have to find a way to fix that. She's getting hit for form on that.

Floor, I can see where Dunne having COVID and not being up to stamina could be playing a role.

She honestly looks great on beam, thought for sure she would be seeing some more time there but thats just me. I still strongly think Dunne needs to do a easier leap series because the rest of that routine is great. Small built in deductions like that are IMO the difference between 9.875 and 9.925 type scores.

Kiya needs to be thrown into the same boat when it comes to leap series. That is just another built in deduction. If we want to push the envelope with difficulty on beam, I wouldn't be doing it on the leaps. Less is more, which is why Florida is thriving so much on beam. LSU still needs to water down the leaps on beam. Only one who should realistically be doing the switch half combo is Campbell.

LSU just picked up a commitment.

Bryce Wilson, 2021 NL cup qualifier. 22 class from Pearland Elite!

Some notes, she competes a DTY on vault. She got a lot of calls from many of the current top programs due to how well she has developed over the last year

Best events are vault, beam and floor. Very polished on those events with her bars still progressing. Is only just touching on her potential with so much more to grow.

Bryce is actually from Louisiana

I just learned of this news a bit ago so I will have to ask.

She is an extremely quality recruit. Of course she is from LA, maybe she wanted to come home

I heard a lot of buzz with Utah but thats a helluva job to pick her up. She's a tremendous talent.

The jump she made in one year is remarkable.
